Position Summary
The Safety Director is responsible for leading, developing, and administering all company safety, health, compliance, and risk management initiatives that support workforce safety and operational excellence. This leadership role works closely with company leadership, field personnel, project managers, and support staff to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, DOT regulations, and other applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements.
The Safety Director oversees safety training programs, policy administration, incident investigations, compliance documentation, workforce coaching, inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires strong leadership, communication skills, accountability, professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to influence safe behaviors throughout the organization.
This is a safety-sensitive position.
Core Responsibilities – Safety Leadership & Compliance• Lead and manage the company safety program and related compliance initiatives
• Develop, implement, review, and maintain company safety policies, procedures, and standards
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, EPA, and other applicable regulations
• Conduct regular jobsite inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and property damage events and coordinate corrective actions
• Maintain safety records, reports, training documentation, inspection logs, and compliance files
• Monitor safety performance metrics and provide reporting to leadership
• Coordinate and administer safety meetings, toolbox talks, and workforce communications
• Assist with emergency response planning and crisis management procedures
• Promote continuous improvement and proactive hazard identification throughout the organization
• Develop and coordinate company-wide safety training and orientation programs
• Oversee new hire safety onboarding and compliance training requirements
• Coordinate training periodicity, certifications, licensing, and qualification tracking
• Coach and mentor employees, supervisors, and managers on safe work practices
• Support workforce engagement and reinforce company safety culture and expectations
• Coordinate PPE standards, equipment inspections, and safety supply management
• Maintain relationships with outside trainers, industry associations, and regulatory agencies
• Support employee development through ongoing coaching, communication, and accountability
• Partner with operations leadership to identify and reduce workplace hazards and operational risks
• Review subcontractor safety practices and support contractor compliance efforts
• Assist with workers’ compensation administration and return-to-work coordination
• Participate in project planning, pre-job meetings, and operational safety reviews
• Support fleet safety initiatives, driver qualification programs, and motor vehicle compliance
• Assist with insurance audits, regulatory inspections, and documentation requests
• Evaluate trends and recommend improvements to reduce incidents and improve workplace safety performance
• Support company mission, vision, and core values while promoting accountability and professionalism

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
• Experience with safety management systems, compliance software, and web-based reporting tools preferred
• Prior construction, industrial, transportation, or utility safety experience preferred
• OSHA 500/510, CHST, CSP, or similar certifications preferred but not required
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
Full-time position.
Work hours: Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, generally 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, averaging approximately 40 to 50 hours weekly based on workload, project schedules, and business demands. The Safety Director is a full-time salaried position and is not eligible for overtime pay. Blauch Brothers, Inc. pays weekly each Thursday.
Schedules are subject to change based on business demand and seasonal workload. Field visits, occasional travel, and after-hours response availability may be required based on operational or emergency needs.

• Frequent travel to jobsites, facilities, and operational locations may be required
The Safety Director reports to executive leadership and works closely with all departments and field operations. This position may provide leadership and oversight to safety coordinators, trainers, or related personnel as assigned.
