Field Services Superintendent

Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salary

Reports to: Senior Field Services Director

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

Summary Objective

The Field Service Superintendent (FSS) will have experience in proposal development, project controls including: scope of work, schedule creation, procedure writing, and the direction and monitoring of multiple EPC site crafts including rigging, mechanical millwright, pipe fitters, structural fitter / welder, electrical and commissioning. Also have experience with overseeing the safe, timely, and cost-effective installation and startup of manufactured chiller units. The FSS is competent to support site stakeholder interface including client and or client representatives in addition to other contractors employed by the client and /or client representative.

Essential Functions

  1. Individual Project / Service Plans
    • Monitor, update, and report, being accountable for overall site project plan, through daily Activities Schedules and the quality, efficiency and timely completion thereof:
  • Receiving, equipment install, startup and commissioning, and turnover to client
  • Hours for tasks (success and/or failures).
  • Site Performance and Acceptance Testing
  • Sub-Contractor Management
  • Timecard Cost Codes.
    • Monitor and maintain:
  • A safe work environment based on Stellar Energy Safety Manual
  • Standard Test Procedures
  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Standard Work Practices / Work Instruction, work habits


    • Coordinate multiple projects at customer site in coordination with PMs.
    • Coordinate and confirm quality / site acceptance / milestones with PM and client.
    • Proactively seek to identify improved and safer methods of site implementation.
    • Coordinate and monitor Subcontractor start dates, milestones, signoff’s, etc.
    • Monitor materials purchases, tool issuance and consumable usage.
    • Data acquisition and confirmation in accordance with client acceptance requirements.
    • Finalize submissions of all field quality, testing and project required documents.


  1. Field Scheduling
    • Create, maintain, and update individual Project Schedules based upon major equipment delivery schedules, personnel and equipment needs for accomplishing associated Site Schedules implementation and startup dates. Submit to Services Manager and Project Manager for review and approval, notify of any/all potential delays or schedule impacts.
    • Confirm site progress, site loading, and monitor individual site team startup and commission progress and resource allocation in startup and commissioning schedule.
    • Monitor and confirm equipment deliveries, quality of equipment condition when delivered, monitor setting of equipment, monitor, and advise according to the Project Manager’s direction. Notify VP and Project Manager of all deviations, delays or potential delays, or issues immediately.
    • Seek to identify improved methods of site receiving, site implementation, startup and commissioning, site training and turnover to the client.


  1. Safety / Tools
    • Implement and monitor overall site safety.
    • Maintain daily Job Hazard Analysis / safety meetings.
    • Continual process monitoring for improvements.
    • Monitor site cleanliness through daily site inspection checklist.
    • Monitor and notification for tool certifications, calibrations etc., as necessary.


  1. Prepares for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Work Location

This position will work out of our Haskell, Texas Field Service Site. This position is not approved for telecommuting or working remotely.

Work Environment
Fast paced, time sensitive, stressful, construction environment where there are no exceptions to the safety and quality requirements. Large amount of decision-making daily with accuracy margins associated. Exciting and ever-changing environment of Lean methodology employed daily. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed inside and outside with uncontrolled weather conditions.


Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel

100% travel is expected for this position. Must be able to travel internationally.

Required Education and Experience.

  • Associate degree in technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 6 to 8 Years’ experience in Heavy Industrial Environment as Superintendent or Lead Foreman.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 Hour Certification.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • BS or equivalent experience (8 to 10 years construction or commissioning experience)
  • Experience in civil, mechanical, electrical, and controls implementation or a combination thereof.
  • Experience in industrial work processes and procedures.

Work Authorization
Must be qualified to work in the United States. Must hold a current US Passport or have ability to obtain.
