Summary
SENS is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Engineering Project Manager reporting to the Director of R&D Programs. You will drive new product development initiatives (hardware and software) from concept through manufacturing launch in an environment of evolving priorities and accelerated growth. This role demands a proactive change agent who can lead our engineering team through this cultural and strategic transformation.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple cross-functional engineering projects from concept through production launch, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.
- Drive project planning and execution using a structured stage-gate development process, including scope definition, schedule development, resource planning, risk management, and milestone tracking.
- Coordinate the efforts of electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, validation, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, sales, and marketing teams to achieve project objectives.
- Facilitate project team meetings, maintain project documentation, communicate status updates, and ensure timely resolution of issues, risks, and action items.
- Partner with engineering leadership to establish project priorities, allocate resources, and balance competing demands across multiple development initiatives.
- Lead new product introduction activities and support successful transitions from product development into manufacturing and production.
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and proactively manage technical, schedule, cost, and operational challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Present project status, key milestones, risks, mitigation plans, and recommendations to senior leadership to enable informed decision-making and timely resolution of project challenges.
- Support product cost estimation, business case development, and project justification activities to ensure alignment with company growth and profitability objectives.
- Track and report project performance metrics, resource utilization, and key milestones to management and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement of project management processes, tools, and development practices to im-prove execution, predictability, and organizational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to support design for manufacturability, production readiness, and successful product launches.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and effective communication while helping teams remove obstacles and maintain project momentum.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical project management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in hardware and software new product development.
- Experience with ERP systems (Infor® SyteLine a plus).
- Experience with product cost modeling, BOM development and manufacturing cost estimation.
- Experience of FMEA, risk management and design controls.
- Experience in risk analysis for products and projects.
- Experience in engineering and manufacturing environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Proficient with project management tools (MS Project, YouTrack, Jira, Trello).
- Demonstrated expertise in both agile and waterfall project management methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering or MBA.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of cost accounting and business case creation.
- PMP Certification.
- Experience supporting NPI and manufacturing launch activities.
Location: This position is located on-site in Longmont, CO.
Base Compensation: $145,000 - $180,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
