Position SummaryMystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Classroom Teacher to teach students in Grades 3–6.
The successful candidate will provide rigorous, engaging instruction aligned with the school's Core Knowledge curriculum and Direct Instruction methodology while fostering a structured, supportive classroom environment. The ideal candidate is committed to helping students develop strong academic skills, positive character, and a lifelong love of learning.
Essential Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and Direct Instruction methodology.
- Maintain a structured, organized classroom environment that promotes student engagement, responsibility, and academic success.
- Establish and reinforce clear behavioral expectations using the school's positive behavior management model.
- Develop lesson plans with clear learning objectives and measurable student outcomes.
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, progress reports, and report cards.
- Differentiate instruction to support the diverse learning needs of students.
- Collaborate regularly with grade-level colleagues, instructional staff, and administrators to improve curriculum and student achievement.
- Participate in professional development, grade-level meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, faculty meetings, and other required school events.
- Attend and participate in parent-teacher conferences, Back-to-School Night, open houses, and other family engagement activities.
- Implement all required accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs and Section 504 Plans in collaboration with the Special Education Department.
- Supervise students during assigned duties, including morning arrival, lunch/recess, dismissal, and other school activities.
- Uphold and model all school policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Director or Leadership Team.
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in Education or a related field preferred.
- Massachusetts Elementary licensure (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze student data and use assessment results to improve instruction.
- Strong collaboration, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to maintaining high academic expectations and a structured learning environment.
- Successful completion of applicable Massachusetts MTEL requirements within one year of employment.
This position reports to the Assistant Director and is an annual appointment subject to yearly evaluation.
