The Role

As the Care Assistant you will provide care and support to people in their own homes with a variety of care needs, as per their bespoke care plan.

Our purpose is to provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals within their own homes, enabling them to remain as independent, safe, comfortable, and fulfilled as possible.

The Care Assistant will promote dignity, respect, choice and independence at all times, whilst ensuring the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of the people they support.

This role can include lone working and will require some weekend work with generally one weekend on and one weekend off. We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

· To encourage independent living at home with respect, choice, dignity and safety

· Help with personal care, toileting, bathing, showering, and dressing.

· Assisting with mobility and the use of mobility aids where appropriate

· To prepare meals that are nutritionally balanced and provide encouragement to eat. To prompt and ensure regular fluid intake.

· Collection of shopping and prescriptions

· Maintaining the cleanliness within the clients’ home

· Accompanying to Doctor’s, hospital appointment etc.

· Providing clear and accurate records of visits – in both electronic and paper forms

· Identifying care needs and liaising with the manager, team leaders and other staff to maintain the welfare and confidentiality of clients.

· Participation in ongoing training

· Participation in staff meetings, performance management, supervisions and appraisals

· To cover for other staff for sickness and holidays

· To be aware of and adhere to Daily Care Suffolk’s policies and procedures and work ethic.

· Any other tasks (related to care planning) as may be delegated by the manager in connection with the essential day to day running of Daily Care Suffolk Ltd.

Hours and Pay

The starting pay for this role is £13.50 per hour, increasing to £14.10 after successful completion of the probationary period with enhancements for evening work from 19.00 and bank holidays. With mileage paid at £0.35 per mile and travel time paid at equivalent to £13.50 per hour. Wages paid weekly in arrears.

You will be contracted to work 35-40 hours per week, though these may be variable according to business needs. This will include some weekends of required working.

This role is based in Horham and the surrounding Suffolk area

The Successful Person

To be successful in your application to this role, you will be:

Essential

· Physically fit and able to safely carry out the physical duties of the role.

· Experienced in social care work with a willingness to commence training to QCF 2 level and the Care Certificate if not already having this

· Able to think quickly under pressure whilst decision making.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to record and advise information accurately and concisely and liaise with families, management and MDT as necessary.

· Familiar with the needs of older people and genuinely interested in the well-being and care of the elderly.

· Able to work as a team or individually, with ability to work through and resolve problems and act appropriately in high pressure situations.

· Able to socialise with people at all levels without prejudice or discrimination.

· Committed to developing anti-discriminatory and equal opportunities in personal work practices.

· Reliable and committed.

· The ability to be flexible to changing needs and work patterns.

· Full and clean driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.

Desirable

· Able and willing to engage in advanced training and specialised courses.

· Alert and practical

· Able to learn new skills and thus improve the level of care delivered.

· Able to engage in activities that improve the quality of life for older people.

· People oriented.

· Calm and organized approach to work and life with a sense of humour.
