Position Summary
Munro & Associates is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive the growth of our engineering and manufacturing consulting business. This role is responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing strategic client relationships, and selling high-value consulting engagements that deliver measurable business results.
The ideal candidate has a successful track record selling engineering, technical, or professional consulting services to executive and engineering leadership. They understand how to uncover customer challenges, align technical expertise with business objectives, and guide complex opportunities from initial conversation through contract execution.
This position requires a highly motivated sales professional who enjoys building relationships, developing new business, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients across multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Develop and execute strategies to generate new business opportunities across automotive, aerospace, defense, industrial, consumer products, medical device, and other manufacturing sectors.
- Build relationships with executive leaders, engineering organizations, operations teams, procurement, and manufacturing decision-makers.
- Identify client challenges and position Munro's engineering and consulting capabilities as solutions that deliver measurable value.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, and strategic outreach.
Consultative Sales
- Own the complete sales cycle from prospecting through contract negotiation and close.
- Sell complex engineering and manufacturing consulting services using a consultative, value-based sales approach.
- Lead discovery conversations to understand technical, operational, and business challenges.
- Present customized solutions that align Munro's expertise with client objectives.
- Develop proposals, pricing strategies, and statements of work in collaboration with technical teams.
- Consistently achieve or exceed revenue and growth objectives.
Client Relationship Management
- Establish long-term relationships that result in repeat business and strategic partnerships.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client engagements by introducing additional consulting services.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary commercial contact throughout the client relationship.
- Maintain regular communication with customers to understand evolving priorities and identify future opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with engineering, program management, and executive leadership to develop winning client solutions.
- Coordinate internal resources to ensure timely proposal development and successful project transitions.
- Provide market intelligence on customer needs, industry trends, and competitive activity to support business strategy.
- Represent Munro at industry conferences, customer meetings, and networking events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of successful business development or sales experience selling engineering services, technical consulting, manufacturing consulting, or other professional services.
- Demonstrated success developing new business and managing complex sales cycles with enterprise clients.
- Experience engaging executive leadership, engineering organizations, and technical decision-makers.
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts in a business-focused manner.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently while collaborating across technical teams.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support clients and business development activities.
