Job Description
Forgent Power Solutions designs and manufactures electrical equipment that moves power. We've seen exceptional growth, roughly doubling revenue in recent years, and we have high ambitions for what comes next.
We're hiring an Analyst for the Strategy team. You'll work directly with the Director of Strategy & Special Projects on topics that chart the future of the company: where we compete, how we win, and how we improve the business. The work splits across business initiatives, M&A, and strategy development, with initiatives being consulting-style engagements run inside the company. This is a hands-on analytical role with unusual proximity to senior decision-makers.
This position is based in Los Angeles and works on a hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities
• Support business initiatives from issue framing through workplan, analysis, solution design, and pilot.
• Partner with leaders across operations, engineering, sales, procurement, and finance to gather inputs and validate findings.
• Support M&A screening and diligence, including target identification, profiling on ownership, capacity, product fit, and strategic rationale, and preparing target briefings.
• Assist with strategy development, including market sizing, segmentation, competitive analysis, and where-to-play assessment.
• Conduct competitive intelligence on manufacturers, service providers, and channel partners.
• Develop executive and Board-ready materials in PowerPoint and Excel.
• Maintain team models and trackers with documented sources and version control.
• Track demand across data center, utility, and commercial and industrial end markets.
Required Qualifications
• 2+ years in management consulting, investment banking, corporate development, corporate strategy, equity research, or an adjacent analytical role.
• Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering, finance, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Structured problem solving. Able to break an ambiguous issue into parts and work it methodically.
• Strong modeling skills and advanced PowerPoint skills.
• Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and multiple concurrent workstreams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to electrical equipment, power distribution, data center infrastructure, industrial manufacturing, or utility end markets.
• Experience on operational improvement initiatives within companies (e.g., procurement, supply chain, operating model, cost reduction, pricing).
• Experience supporting M&A processes — screening, diligence, or integration.
• Experience working directly with senior executives.
• Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Capital IQ, PitchBook, or similar.
• Fluency with AI tools for research and analysis.
