Civil/Transportation Engineer in Miami, Florida at Civil Works

We are pleased to share we have a new opportunity for a Civil/Transportation Engineer to join our firm.

In the role of Civil/Transportation Engineer, we will count on you to:

• Work as a member of a highway/roadway design team
• Prepare the following roadway/highway design work using FDOT, local or AASHTO standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway sections, intersection layout and sight distance determination, interchange layout, roadway drainage
• Prepare the following elements of various sizes of contract plans, specifications and estimates: roadway sections, alignment/right-of-way plans, site preparation plans, roadway profiles, drainage plans and profiles, utility plans, paving, pavement marking plans, signing plans, traffic control plans, Signalization Plans, Lighting Plans
• Assist in the management of larger projects and/or manage smaller projects
• Include preparing scopes, budgets and schedules
• Serve as technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinates technical efforts within discipline areas.
• Manage the following work elements: day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with sub-consultants, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep client satisfied
• Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• EIT licensure is required with 2-3 years of DOT experience
• Proficient knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and/or Autodesk Civil3D Experience with FDOT Bar Menus or other design software as appropriate
• Knowledge of the FDOT Design Manual a must
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our Civil Works Team

Location: This is a full-time, in-office position located in our Miami, FL office

Travel: Travel, if any, is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business. Most travel would occur between the Project and our Miami office.

Company experience includes projects for public sector clients such as the Florida Department of Transportation, Miami-Dade, Broward, other Florida Counties and their municipalities. Private sector client projects have included traffic studies and development plans for hotels, shopping centers, commercial and residential complexes. Our current primary focus is FDOT 3R Milling and Resurfacing projects.
