Strategic Accounts Mining Sales Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Strategic Accounts Mining Sales Director based in Canada.

This role leads strategic mining sales and business development activities across North America, with a strong focus on the Canadian mining industry. You will manage key accounts, identify new commercial opportunities, and drive sustainable growth through customized and bundled solutions. The position combines strategic account management, technical sales, market development, and relationship building across mining and mineral processing operations. You will work closely with engineering, technical, sales, manufacturing, and distribution teams to deliver solutions that improve equipment performance and operational efficiency. The role provides significant exposure to major mining customers, industry events, dealers, and strategic projects across the region. With up to 50% travel, you will engage directly with customers and mining sites while shaping long-term commercial strategies.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to strengthen market presence across the mining and mineral processing sectors throughout North America, with a priority focus on Canada.
  • Identify, approach, and develop relationships with mining contractors, processing plants, junior producers, quarry and aggregate businesses, and other heavy-industry customers.
  • Manage and expand strategic customer relationships, building long-term partnerships and supporting customer satisfaction and business growth.
  • Establish strong relationships with mining companies to generate additional sales opportunities through the dealer organization.
  • Collaborate with technical, engineering, manufacturing, field sales, and distribution teams to develop solutions that improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify emerging opportunities, customer needs, competitive developments, and industry trends.
  • Prepare sales proposals, quotations, RFP responses, contracts, and other required bidding documentation.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, support project implementation, and coordinate with distribution partners to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Facilitate effective communication between strategic accounts, dealers, field sales teams, and manufacturing stakeholders.
  • Represent the business at national and local trade shows, training seminars, customer VIP visits, product demonstrations, and industry association events.
  • Provide monthly sales and performance reporting, including units, revenue, key account metrics, and other required commercial indicators.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual business reports covering strategic accounts, market developments, project updates, forecasts, upcoming activities, and key risks or opportunities.
  • Develop detailed annual business plans and forecasts by account, model, and project, including projected management orders and annual travel and entertainment budgets.
  • Participate in regional field team meetings and quarterly strategic account meetings.
  • Maintain required monthly documentation and ensure accurate CRM and sales reporting.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts, management insights, and recommendations for planning adjustments based on account and market developments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven commercial sales experience, with at least 7 years of experience in industrial or mining equipment sales, preferably within machinery manufacturing or engineering solutions.
  • Demonstrated success developing B2B sales with mining, quarry and aggregate, and heavy-industry customers.
  • Strong working knowledge of the mining industry, mining sites, and operational environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of mineral processing, heavy industrial machinery, and maintenance solutions used in mining operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of product configuration and application requirements.
  • Current MSHA certification, including MSHA Part 46 covering areas such as hazard recognition, emergency procedures, and first aid.
  • MSHA Part 48 certification or experience with specialized training for underground or complex surface mining operations is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills in English; French bilingualism is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM tools.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and customer-facing teams.
  • Highly motivated, target-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable operating in demanding environments.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to mining sites, dealer branches, customer locations, industry conferences, and meetings across North America.
  • Ability to dedicate up to 50% of working time to travel.
  • Must be based in Canada and eligible to travel to the United States when required.
