Work Hours: Full-time, 12-hour 2-2-3 shifts

Job Summary

The Extrusion Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the extrusion department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production in alignment with PLASKOLITE’s manufacturing standards. This role provides direct supervision, leadership, and direction to extrusion leads and technicians across assigned production lines. The Extrusion Supervisor ensures production goals are met while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

The position requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of extrusion processes, and the ability to foster collaboration among cross-functional teams including Maintenance, Quality, and Scheduling. The Extrusion Supervisor plays a key role in developing personnel, driving process improvements, and supporting operational excellence throughout the department.

This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality—reflecting Plaskolite’s core values of Integrity and Improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee extrusion operations to ensure all production lines are running safely, efficiently, and according to schedule. Assign daily work priorities and manage workforce allocation based on production needs.
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate extrusion team members including leads and technicians. Provide feedback, conduct performance discussions, and support training and skill development to enhance employee capability and engagement.
  • Monitor production output, scrap, and downtime to ensure targets are achieved. Review process data and make decisions to improve throughput, yield, and quality consistency.
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety by ensuring all personnel follow proper safety procedures, wear required PPE and comply with PLASKOLITE safety policies and OSHA standards. Participate in safety audits, incident reviews, and corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure all extrusion products meet PLASKOLITE’s quality specifications. Partner with the Quality department to resolve product issues, implement corrective actions, and maintain compliance with documentation standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process reliability, efficiency, and consistency. Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to support root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain effective communication across shifts and departments. Provide daily production updates, coordinate with Scheduling on order priorities, and ensure smooth transitions between shifts.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and that preventive maintenance schedules are followed. Monitor raw material usage and coordinate with inventory control to support production continuity.
  • Maintain accurate production reports, downtime logs, and personnel records. Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and integrity. Foster a positive work environment focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Basic Math & Computer Skills, required
  • 7+ years of work experience
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
