The Chapel School (TCS) Job Description for Explorer Camp Director

The Explorer Camp Director, under the direct supervision of the Principal, will provide specific leadership to the Summer Camp Program for children ages 7-12, helping to provide an enriching summer program of excellence in a safe, nurturing environment that maintains alignment with our mission ... "To Know, Live and Share the Love of Christ".

The TCS Explorer Camp Director is expected to maintain an effective working relationship with other administrators, teachers, counselors, maintenance staff, clerical staff, students and parents/guardians, demonstrating faith in his or her daily walk with Christ.

Camp Staff Management

Oversight and supervision of camp staff and outside vendors.

Make sure that all hiring procedures are followed, including:

Applications/Background Checks, Interviews, References, Insurance Information,

Interface with Business Office regarding Payroll Enrollment, W9 Forms, etc.

Supervision of Staff including monitoring, observations, time clocks.

Make sure substitutes are in place in the event that an instructor is unavailable.

Provide Snacks for Morning and Afternoon Programs.

Aid in the Supervision of Camp Nurse.

Budget

Work with the Principal & CARE Bear Director to Create Balanced Summer Camp Budget.

Manage Payment of Vendors/Instructors (Expense).

Set Fee Structure and Project Enrollment (Income).

Track Enrollment and Collection of Fees (Income).

Manage Inventory and Ordering of Materials (Expense).

TCS Summer Program Brochure and Promotion

October-December ... Set Program Schedule/Secure Vendors for following Summer.

December ... Create Brochure or work with designer to Create Brochure. T-Shirt and Program Logos Designed and/or Approved.

January ... Ensure that Brochure is Ready for Distribution/Uploaded to TCS Website.

January ... Ensure that All Programs are Entered on Active Works, Flyers and Promotional Materials for Open Houses are Created/Distributed and T-Shirts Ordered.

February and April ... Set Up, Coordinate and Lead Open Houses, Greet Visitors.

May-June ... Manage and Track Enrollment online.

TCS Summer Program Administrative Responsibilities

May-August ... Manage and Track Enrollment on Active Works.

Department of Health Permit Submission, Inspection and Follow Up.

Ensure collection of W9s and Certificates of Liability Insurance for All Vendors.

Ensure collection of necessary medical documentation for campers.

9 Weeks of Camp ... On Site Daily Supervision/Management (Full Days on Mondays for Min. 30 Hrs./Wk.)

Playground, Snacks/Drinks, Staff, Family Interface, etc.

1 Week Full Paid Vacation (Different Week than CARE Bear Program Director).
