About This Position
Position Summary:
Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing intermediate-level maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of equipment and facilities to ensure optimal operational performance. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, performing preventive maintenance, and assisting in training junior technicians. The Maintenance Technician Level 2 works under minimal supervision, utilizing their expertise to resolve complex issues and supporting the team in maintaining a safe and functional workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facilities to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, including motors, conveyors, and production machinery.
• Respond to service requests promptly to minimize operational interruptions.
• Inspect and test machinery and equipment for safety, functionality, and compliance with company standards.
• Assist in the installation, relocation, and setting up of new equipment and machinery as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities using maintenance management systems.
• Identify and order replacement parts and supplies as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior maintenance technicians, sharing knowledge and expertise.
• Assist in developing and updating maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to improve equipment performance and efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in warehouse maintenance.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and the ability to adhere to safety protocols.
• Must be certified or can get certified to drive a forklift, electric pallet jack, and scissor lift.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Must be able to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds frequently; prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching daily; and working in confined spaces. Requires a full range of physical motion to perform manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment.
Physical Demands:
• Ability to stand, walk, and work on ladders or elevated surfaces for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching to access equipment and perform repairs.
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and machinery.
• Occasional exposure to loud noises, vibrations, and moving mechanical parts.
Work Environment:
• Primarily works in industrial and manufacturing environments, including production floors and maintenance workshops.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and potentially hazardous materials.
• Fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and operational efficiency.
• May require working on-call, evenings, weekends, or holidays, as necessary.
Travel Requirements:
• Minimal travel is required, though occasional travel to other company locations or training facilities may be necessary.
Equipment Used:
• Hand tools and power tools, such as wrenches, drills, and saws.
• Diagnostic equipment, such as multimeters and pressure gauges.
• Industrial machinery and equipment, including conveyors and motors.
• Computers and maintenance management software.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and mentorship to Level 1 Maintenance Technicians or apprentices.
