Role OverviewThe Director of Business Optimization serves as a critical bridge between IdeaTek’s infrastructure backbone and its commercial growth engines. This role is responsible for ensuring our operational ecosystem. You will oversee contract governance to ensure service delivery matches contractual commitments and provide the operational oversight necessary to empower the Business Development and Enterprise Sales teams. You are the architect of efficiency, ensuring our commitments to customers are met while our underlying infrastructure costs are strictly managed and fully utilized.
Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Support for Sales & Business Development
- Operational Readiness: Act as the primary liaison between Engineering and Sales to ensure that complex enterprise network requirements are scoped accurately and can be delivered within our existing operational framework.
- Bid & Solution Alignment: Review complex enterprise opportunities to ensure that the proposed technical solutions align with our internal infrastructure strengths and long-term network strategy.
- Sales Enablement: Educate the sales team on complex enterprise product capabilities and operational limitations, ensuring that promises made to prospects are technically feasible and supported by our middle-mile architecture.
- Key Relationship Development: Establish key industry relationships and handover key leads to the enterprise sales team.
- Governance & Auditing: Partner with the Middle-Mile Project Manager to Mitigate financial risk through systematic audits of vendor contracts, ensuring service levels and capacity tiers are optimized for maximum ROI and cost containment.
- Vendor Accountability: Proactively manage key vendor relationships to ensure Ideatek receives the full value of the services paid for, addressing performance gaps or service deficiencies immediately.
- Cost Containment: Identify and eliminate waste within the middle-mile infrastructure, including re-negotiating underperforming circuits, decommissioning dormant assets, and ensuring optimal utilization of wholesale transport.
- Process Optimization: Refine the hand-off and coordination processes between Sales, Network Operations, and Procurement to minimize friction and ensure seamless enterprise service deployment.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor KPIs focused on network utilization, vendor performance, and enterprise delivery timelines, reporting progress to executive leadership.
- Strategic Asset Management: Partner with Network Planning to ensure current infrastructure investments are fully leveraged to support new business acquisition.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in telecommunications operations, contract management, or strategic business planning.
- Contractual Expertise: Strong background in reading, interpreting, and auditing complex service agreements and master service agreements (MSAs).
- Operational Insight: Deep understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, specifically middle-mile transport and enterprise connectivity products.
- Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional negotiation skills with a proven track record of holding vendors accountable and resolving contract disputes.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence teams across Engineering, Sales, and Finance to ensure organizational alignment.
- Availability: May be required to travel 10-15% of the time as needed to support the business. (This role may be remote or hybrid.)
