POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Technician I performs a broad range of facility maintenance, repair, and support activities to keep the facility safe, clean, functional, and compliant. This role handles general building systems and infrastructure while developing foundational knowledge in preventive maintenance, production equipment support, and life-safety systems. The Facilities Technician I works under the direction of the Facilities Manager and collaborates closely with operations, environmental health and safety, and other internal teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of this role. Other duties may be assigned as needed in support of the department and the company.

• Log, create, and track work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all facility-related activities.

• Research parts, materials, and vendor options to support facility maintenance and repair needs; coordinate with purchasing to ensure adequate supply levels for janitorial and other facility services.

• Manage spare parts inventory, including receiving, organizing, and tracking stock to support ongoing maintenance activities.

• Perform general facility maintenance and repairs on buildings and infrastructure, including drywall, plumbing, basic electrical, and pneumatic systems.

• Maintain the grounds in a clean and organized condition; keep trash and plastics off the ground and in designated waste containers.

• Ensure facility and storage areas are clean, organized, and compliant with applicable safety standards.

• Maintain and oversee hazardous waste storage areas, report containers ready for collection, and keep accurate records in accordance with regulatory requirements.

• Ensure contractors and visitors adhere to company policies and safety requirements; provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as applicable.

• Assist with special projects such as office relocations, furniture setups, and event preparations.

• Support scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) activities and assist senior technicians with unscheduled repairs as directed.

• Collaborate with the Environmental Health & Safety team to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

• Identify and communicate facility improvement opportunities to meet functionality, cleanliness, and appearance standards.

• Participate in continuous improvement projects and 5S-related performance teams and initiatives.

• Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and PPE requirements.

Other duties as required in support of the department and the company.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role do not include supervising other employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in a related field preferred.

• 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building trades, or a related field preferred.

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, and pneumatic systems.

• Familiarity with CMMS software and work order management is a plus.

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred

• Familiarity with 5S methodology and continuous improvement practices preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

· Valid driver’s license.

· Forklift certified.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

· Conversational in any other language is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; comfortable with data entry, basic spreadsheet tracking, and email communication.

• Familiarity with CMMS platforms for logging and tracking work orders; willingness to learn and adopt new software tools.

• Comfortable using the internet and vendor portals to research parts, pricing, and availability.

• Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and basic measurement instruments.

• Basic understanding of facility systems including plumbing, electrical, drywall, and pneumatic systems.

• Ability to follow work orders, maintenance instructions, and safety documentation; willingness to develop skills in reading schematics and OEM manuals over time.

• Familiarity with safety protocols including PPE requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and hazardous waste handling practices.

• Basic awareness of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and 5S principles preferred.

• Clear and effective communicator; able to relay information accurately in verbal and written formats.

• Works well in a team environment and takes direction from senior technicians and supervisors.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate recordkeeping and work order documentation.

• Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively throughout the workday.

• Reliable, accountable, and proactive in identifying and reporting facility issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical requirements outlined below indicate those necessary to fulfill this position's core responsibilities. While performing job duties, the employee will regularly engage in activities such as using hands to finger, handle, or feel and communicating verbally. Additionally, the employee will frequently need to reach with hands and arms while standing and walking as part of the role. Occasional lifting and movement of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds and using a ladder may be required. This position also demands specific vision capabilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.

• Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.

• Hearing protection in specific locations.

• Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.

TRAVEL

Travel is not required for this position.

SALARY INFORMATION

According to several states' laws, this position's salary range falls between $20 and $35 per hour. However, this salary information is merely a general guideline.
