Position Summary:Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation – Aquatics, the Pool Coordinator assists in the day-to-day operations of the aquatic facilities at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre (NFFRC). The incumbent will provide leadership and ensure delivery of a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic environment. This role supports the daily operation of the pool and program execution, while upholding quality services and safety standards for all users.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide on-deck leadership and daily operational coordination of lifeguards and instructors, including assigning tasks and supporting shift coverage in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and constructive feedback to lifeguards and instructors to support skill development and service excellence.
- Provide feedback to the supervisor regarding performance goals and improvements of the aquatics team, as needed.
- Greet guests entering the aquatics area, providing a welcoming environment.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary swim environment at all times.
- Oversee routine inspections and maintenance of equipment and water quality.
- Maintain accurate inspection records; report and recommend repairs to supervisor, as needed.
- Enforce emergency procedures and safety protocols for all staff.
- Close the facility if unsafe conditions exist and report immediately to management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations.
- Confirm staff qualifications meet required standards.
- Ensure staff deliver courteous, fair, and helpful service to the public.
- Maintain team morale and model professional behaviour.
- Ensure aquatic programs and services start/end on time and operate to a high standard.
- Encourage public participation and manage special events in coordination with the Aquatics Supervisor.
- Complete administrative tasks such as worksheets, statistics, and incident reports on time.
- Perform duties as a lifeguard, swim instructor, team leader and maintenance worker as required.
- Follow all guidelines outlined in the aquatic staff manual and directives from management.
- Maintain familiarity with emergency procedures, facility programs, and operational policies.
- Attend and/or complete all required staff training as assigned.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Comply with applicable provincial and municipal legislation, including the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the Municipality’s Records and Information Management Program.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable legislation, and the Municipality’s Health and Safety Program
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- National Lifeguard (NLS) Certification is required.
- Lifesaving Society Instructor/Swim Instructor Certification is required.
- Aquatic Supervisor Training or NLS Instructor/Examiner is considered an asset.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience lifeguarding or leading aquatic programs.
- Post-secondary education in recreation, fitness, physiology, business administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a recreation, fitness, or customer service-focused facility is an asset.
- Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a fast-paced public environment.
- Strong time management, organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
- Proficient in computer applications in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- First Aid and CPR level C with AED is required.
Hours of work will vary each week to an annual maximum of 1440 hours. Evening and weekend shifts are required.
Employee Group:Part-Time, Non-Union.Wage Rate:$30.12 (2026 Rates).
