Staff Attorney at Legal Aid of Western Missouri – Kansas City, Missouri

Legal Aid is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to join an innovative new initiative, Legal Aid in the Library, in partnership with the Mid-Continent Public Library. This position is based at Legal Aid’s central office in Kansas City, Missouri, with regular office hours at five Mid-Continent Public Library branches.

The Staff Attorney will provide free civil legal services to income-eligible clients across a range of practice areas, including eviction defense, family law, consumer law, and public benefits. This role is well suited for an attorney who enjoys a general practice environment, is eager to learn multiple areas of law, or brings experience handling diverse civil matters.

As part of this exciting new project, the attorney will collaborate closely with library staff to develop and deliver community presentations, outreach, and programming to help launch and grow the initiative. The ideal candidate is approachable, adaptable, and comfortable engaging with a wide variety of clients and partners throughout the day. This position will include some evening and weekend hours to support outreach and community needs.

Salary: $70,000 + DOE
