INTRODUCTION TO THE DIOCESE OF MANCHESTER:

The Bishop of Manchester is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular diocese entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in the Diocesan Administration Building helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. All employees of the diocesan administration assist the Bishop of Manchester in serving the parishes, schools and institutions of the Catholic Church in New Hampshire.

This is a full-time temporary position reporting to the Director of Parish Faith Formation under the Cabinet Secretary for Catholic Formation.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Diocese of Manchester is looking for enthusiastic and committed Catholic college age men and women to serve as missionaries in our Totus Tuus program. Missionaries will be trained June 11 through June 19, 2026, at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA.

Following the completion of training, missionaries will travel from parish to parish, conducting week-long catechetical programs for first through twelfth grade students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend Totus Tuus training June 11-19, 2026, at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA.
  2. Complete Diocesan Safe Environment training.
  3. Commit to the Totus Tuus program June 11 through August 8, 2026, includes training and parish commitments.
  4. Travel and lodging with parish hosts for the summer is included.
  5. Take part in a rigorous community-based daily prayer and sacramental life throughout the summer, including Morning Prayer, Mass, Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Evening Prayer, spontaneous prayer, etc.
  6. Work closely with other team members throughout the summer.
  7. Conduct oneself as a missionary disciple throughout the summer – to host families, those who volunteer at the parish, and the students who participate.
  8. Speak at Sunday Masses to advertise the Totus Tuus program for the upcoming week.
  9. Travel as a team to various parishes in New Hampshire and lodge with host families or at the parish rectory.
  10. Prepare lesson plans for classes.
  11. Teach 1st through 6th grade students about the Catholic faith during the day program.
  12. Lead games, songs and skits each week for first through sixth graders.
  13. Teach 7th through 12th grade students about the Catholic faith during the evening program. This includes traditional content, and witness talks about the Faith.
  14. Lead 7th through 12th grade students in games and other activities during the evening program.
  15. Communicate with parish coordinators before arrival at the parish and during the mission week to discuss scheduling and needs to ensure the week runs smoothly.
  16. Uphold and put into practice the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Requirements:

This position requires the ability to:

  1. Occasional moving, lifting, or carrying up to ten pounds
  2. Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and/or standing
  3. Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds to waist level whenever necessary.
  4. Ability to reach at or above shoulder level, occasional reaching below shoulder level
  5. Ability to manipulate equipment and controls frequently and occasionally grasp and handle some equipment
  6. Ability to travel throughout the diocese
  7. Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include some nights and weekends
  8. Mobility that includes regular sitting, some standing and walking

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. A joyful and enthusiastic approach to teaching (required)
  2. Love of the Church and her teachings (required)
  3. Be a practicing Catholic in accordance with Canon 874 §1, 3, 4 of the Code of Canon Law (required)
  4. Totus Tuus training 6/11/26-6/19/26 (required)
  5. Diocesan Safe Environment program (required)
  6. Valid driver’s license (strongly preferred)
  7. Experience working with children and youth (preferred)
