BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Supply Chain Anesthesia Specialist performs the inventory management process to support the daily operations of the Surgical Services department. The Supply Chain Anesthesia Specialist ensures adequate inventory of all supplies to ensure providers and nursing can maintain uninterrupted patient care .

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Number of Direct Reports:

Minimum Education: High School Diploma Required.

Degree: Associate’s degree preferred

License/Certification Required: None

Minimum Work Experience: 2-3 years Surgical Services and/or healthcare Supply Chain Management experience. Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practices of inventory and PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) level management and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) applications preferably Workday.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills including follow-up and accountability with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task and prioritize work with the capacity to easily adapt to changes in workload, projects, and immediate needs.
  • Working knowledge of a Supply Chain Management System.
  • Proficient PC Skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Customer serviced focused.
  • Plans workload appropriately and demonstrates effective time management. Organizes work to accomplish objectives and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to manage manufacturer backorders, open orders, allocations and needed substitutions daily.
  • Knowledge of cycle counting, expiration date management, PAR levels, stock rotation (first in, first out) and inventory management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the Anesthesia inventory and Specialty and Universal Carts inventories by maintaining the appropriate PAR levels through the requisition process in Supply Chain Management.
  • Follows-up on manufacturer backorders, open orders, allocations and needed substitutions.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels on all specialty carts, OR suites and supply locations to ensure availability.
  • Performs scheduled cycle counts and monitors supply expiration dates in all OR supply locations.
  • Assembles specialty kits for Anesthesia procedures.
  • Ensures all fluid warmers are stocked and dated according to policy with the appropriate IV and irrigation solutions.
  • Performs inventory maintenance in the Supply Chain Management system as needed (add/delete items, change par levels, etc.) for Anesthesia inventory and all Specialty carts.
  • Communicate and coordinate with OR Supply Chain Supervisor about product issues or substitute products.
  • Pick-up delivered Anesthesia orders, verify delivery documents to ensure correct supply items received, unbox, and eliminate cardboard for delivery.
  • Supports Supply Chain OR Specialists by acting as a backup, stocking supply carts and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Consistently optimizes time efficiently and effectively and serves as a resource for others.
  • Identifies opportunities for standardization, eliminating waste and managing slow moving items.
  • Respectfully uses hospital resources appropriately to avoid miss-use and waste.
  • Assists with maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly clinical and patient care area environment.
  • Willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently, and 10lbs consistently or to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
