Temporary PT Community Outreach & Recruitment Assistant
M-F 25 hours per week
Assignment ends October 30, 2026
Wage: $16.00 + Mileage

Since 2016, Pawsperity has been helping uplift families from generational poverty through job training in the art of dog grooming. Pawsperity serves some of the community’s most vulnerable members, including individuals often coming from backgrounds of domestic violence, addiction, incarceration, and homelessness
Position Summary:
Pawsperity is seeking a dependable, mission-driven Community Outreach & Recruitment Assistant to support both community engagement and applicant recruitment efforts across the Kansas City metro area. This role serves as a critical bridge between community awareness and student enrollment, combining grassroots outreach with consistent applicant follow-up. The position engages businesses, community members, and prospective students, ensuring individuals are informed about Pawsperity’s programs and supported through the application process. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people, working independently, and contributing to a cause that creates life-changing opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach & Engagement
  • Conduct site-based canvassing across assigned Kansas City metro areas
  • Introduce Pawsperity’s mission, programs, and opportunities to local businesses and organizations
  • Distribute approved marketing materials, flyers, and informational resources
  • Represent Pawsperity professionally and positively in all community interactions
  • Support grassroots outreach efforts including flyering, tabling, and targeted campaigns
Applicant Outreach & Recruitment Support
  • Conduct follow-up outreach to prospective students, including those who are non-responsive or have missed appointments
  • Encourage participation in next steps such as shadowing, intake appointments, or enrollment activities
  • Communicate with applicants via phone, text, and email in a compassionate and consistent manner
  • Help ensure no applicant “falls through the cracks” by maintaining consistent engagement
Lead Generation, Tracking & Reporting
  • Collect contact information and relevant notes from community members and prospective students
  • Maintain accurate outreach logs and applicant tracking (e.g., Trello or similar systems)
  • Submit regular reports summarizing outreach activity, contacts made, and outcomes
  • Share insights, feedback, and potential leads with the Admissions & Recruitment team
Collaboration & Support
  • Work closely with the Admissions & Recruitment Officer to align outreach and enrollment efforts
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and campaign planning as requested
  • Support organizational goals related to enrollment, partnerships, and community engagement

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with new people
  • Organized and detail-oriented with accurate documentation skills
  • Reliable transportation for travel within the Kansas City metro area
  • Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
Preferred (Not Required)
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in outreach, customer service, sales, or recruitment
  • Familiarity with CRM or tracking tools (e.g., Trello)
  • Familiarity with the Kansas City community
