About This Position
Basic Function:
Inspire Connections is a program offered by Inspire that provides opportunities for families to connect with each other and with resources by offering annual series of meetings and presentations on topics of interest to families and individuals with I/DD and/or special educational needs.
This position will expand Inspire Connections to include resource and referral assistance for families and individuals seeking supports for developmental and special education needs.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement outreach and resource linkage (“connections”) for families and individuals needing information or access to community supports, providers, systems, information.
- Network with provider systems, connect with families and individuals, collaborate with Inspire Community Relations and Senior Directors on planning and implementing Connections activities
- Develop knowledge and contacts for entitlement systems: EIP, PS, OCFS, school districts, OPWDD/CCOs, waiver services (DOH, OMH, OPWDD), SSA/SSI
- Develop knowledge and contacts for community supports and activities: recreation, advocacy, social groups, community calendars, community contacts (DOH, OMH, OCFS, NFPs e.g., YMCAs, etc.)
- Keep data on contacts, referrals, follow-up, trending needs.
- Attend Inspire Connections activities, provider/network meetings, and informational functions as these relate to essential functions
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Functions:
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures. Ensure that students receive services in a safe environment. Encourage co-workers to follow safety policies and procedures. Report any potential unsafe conditions to supervisor and/or Safety Committee.
- Follow current policies and procedures regarding compliance with privacy, security, and corporate compliance policies. Be thoroughly familiar with department and program specific policies and procedures.

Requirements:Education/Experience:
AA/BA preferred.
Qualifications:
3+ years experience working with individuals with special needs (I/DD, special education, related services/therapies) required.
Special Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Be professional in appearance, attire, attitude and communication, Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment; or work independently without close supervision, Ability to communicate effectively with others using oral and written methods, Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment when engaged in crisis intervention.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and or hear. The employee is regularly required to sit for most of their shift; use hands to finger; handle or feel, reach with hands and arms; and stop kneel or crouch. Specific vision requirements by this job include regular computer screen viewing.
Environment:
The noise level is usually low to moderate.
