As a HAZMAT Class A DOT Driver, you will drive Commercial Motor Vehicle (tractor-trailer) combination, usually long distances, in and out of state, to transport and off-load proprietary products to customers or to storage sites in a safe, timely, accurate, and courteous manner. Responsibilities
Your Impact
- Report all accidents, possible injuries, safety issues, driving citations and customer complaints to include service interruptions immediately to their supervisor.
- Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Maintain awareness of all Federal, State and Local regulations and always stay in compliance with these regulations. Report suspected regulatory violations or offenses to his/her appropriate manager.
- Perform pre & post trip inspections to identify any maintenance action that may be required and acts appropriately if action is needed.
- Operate all equipment per company and/or manufacturer guidelines to maximize equipment life cycle and minimize maintenance costs.
- Perform offload procedures on varying types of trucks and trailers using hoses, pumps, fittings, and valves.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages to the vehicles.
- Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Complete and submit reports as required by the DOT and/or company policy.
- Utilize On Board Computer per instructions and makes every effort to ensure accuracy of data.
- Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
- Exercise care when using all safety accessories to include Remote Control Devices, On Board Computers and Audio/Visual Recording Devices, if so equipped.
- Read bill of lading to determine assignment details.
- Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment services when required.
- Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading position and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Troubleshoot system and perform basic repairs.
- Maintain professional appearance/good personal hygiene and wear full uniform.
- Help in other areas of the plant when needed.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet business needs.
What You Bring
- 1–3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, specifically long-distance or regional/interstate driving.
- Proven experience operating pumps, valves, and hoses for product offloading (highly preferred due to the specific offload procedures mentioned).
- Ability to diagnose vehicle defects during pre/post-trip inspections and perform basic, minor roadside repairs or troubleshooting.
- Experience using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) or On-Board Computers (OBC) for tracking hours of service (HOS) and delivery data.
- Strong attention to detail for checking Bills of Lading (BOL), tracking load documentation, and collecting customer signatures or payments.
- A track record of polite, courteous customer interaction and immediate, transparent communication with dispatch/supervisors regarding delays or incidents.
- Willingness to assist with plant operations or other duties during downtime or when business needs shift.
Requirements
- Provide evidence of employment eligibility acceptable to state and federal standards.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Able to pass a background check and pre-employment exam, physical agility assessment, respiratory clearance physical, pulmonary function test, MVR and DOT drug screen.
- Required two (2) years or more of commercial driving experience (Class A) and two (2) or more years of tanker experience.
- Have and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (Class A), in the state of residence, and a safe driving record meeting the company’s vehicle policy and insurability standards.
- Must have HazMat (H) and Tanker (N) endorsements, doubles are preferred.

We offer a competitive base compensation range of $28.00 to $32.00 per hour. Compensation will be determined by the experience, knowledge, and abilities of the applicant.
