Position Location: McLean, VA
Overview
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract requirements. This role coordinates subcontractors, consultants, and vendors along the critical path, maintains quality control standards, and serves as a key point of communication between the project team and the jobsite. The Superintendent actively monitors construction progress across one or more job sites, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, supports inspections and documentation, and helps resolve field issues to keep work moving forward. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support successful project delivery.
What you'll do
- Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion.
- Perform QC duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
- Communicate with project team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s, and Material Submittals.
- Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
- Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution.
- Maintain daily log (written) of activities on the jobsite.
- Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously.
- Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team.
- Walk all units on project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
- Participate in weekly PM/GC/subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work.
- Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling.
- Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
- Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
- Gather project material submittals & maintain approval records at the jobsite.
- Identify areas of work issues that are within the subcontracted scope.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of field construction experience, with increasing responsibility in a superintendent role
- Demonstrated experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to maintain schedule and quality standards
- Strong working knowledge of construction sequencing, critical path scheduling, and field coordination
- Experience performing quality control (QC) inspections and ensuring work complies with contract documents and specifications
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, ASIs, and submittals
- Proven ability to identify and address safety, quality, and compliance issues on active job sites
- Experience coordinating inspections with local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies
- Ability to manage multiple job sites or scopes simultaneously, as required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to maintain daily jobsite logs and reports

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 – $90,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, certifications, skills, and location.
