Engineering Director, Automation

In this role, you will oversee multiple engineering teams focused on distributed systems, developer platforms, and customer-facing integration services that support thousands of businesses worldwide. You will play a strategic role in shaping technical direction, scaling engineering operations, and improving customer outcomes through automation and innovation. Accountabilities:
  • Lead and scale multiple engineering teams focused on integrations infrastructure, automation platforms, and forward-deployed engineering initiatives.
  • Define and execute long-term engineering strategies that align platform capabilities with business growth and customer success objectives.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Go-To-Market, and Engineering stakeholders to enhance developer experiences and streamline integration delivery.
  • Drive operational excellence by maintaining high standards for system reliability, scalability, quality, and execution across all teams.
  • Build and mentor high-performing engineering organizations, supporting managers and engineers through coaching, career development, and performance guidance.
  • Oversee the development of scalable distributed systems and automation frameworks supporting real-time monitoring and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Promote strong engineering culture, continuous improvement, and responsible AI adoption across teams and workflows.
  • Ensure secure engineering practices and protection of company and customer data throughout development and operational processes.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of engineering leadership experience in high-growth technology environments, including experience leading complex platform or infrastructure teams.
  • Proven success managing and scaling engineering organizations of 40+ team members across multiple functions or teams.
  • Strong background in distributed systems, integrations platforms, developer ecosystems, or large-scale automation infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution through engineering managers while maintaining visibility into team health and organizational priorities.
  • Experience developing long-term technical strategies aligned with business outcomes and product innovation goals.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent while creating inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced workflows and openness to leveraging AI responsibly to improve engineering efficiency and impact.
  • Experience with customer-facing engineering teams, partner ecosystems, or developer platforms is considered a strong advantage.
