About the Role:

The Dishwasher plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards of the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for both staff and customers. This position involves the efficient cleaning and sanitizing of dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to support smooth food service operations. The Dishwasher contributes to the overall customer experience by enabling timely meal preparation and service through prompt and thorough cleaning tasks. This role requires physical stamina and attention to detail to handle repetitive motions and heavy lifting while adhering to health and safety regulations. Ultimately, the Dishwasher helps uphold the establishment’s reputation for cleanliness and operational excellence by consistently performing their duties with reliability and care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of food service sanitation standards.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality to maintain consistent kitchen operations.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a food service or restaurant environment.
  • Familiarity with commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours based on business needs.
  • Basic knowledge of workplace safety and hygiene best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Wash, clean, and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashing equipment and manual methods as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, including floors, sinks, and work surfaces.
  • Sort and properly store clean dishes and kitchen tools to ensure easy access for kitchen staff.
  • Dispose of trash and recycling materials in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks and restocking supplies when necessary.
  • Follow all sanitation and safety procedures to comply with health department regulations.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to management promptly.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support kitchen operations.

Skills:

The required skills such as basic reading and following instructions ensure that the Dishwasher can understand and implement sanitation protocols accurately. Physical skills like lifting heavy weights and standing for long periods are essential for handling the demands of cleaning large volumes of dishes and kitchenware efficiently.
