DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: BOOKKEEPER

Department: Finance

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary: $52,500 to $60,900

SUMMARY

The Bookkeeper is responsible for computing, classifying, and recording financial transactions to ensure the financial records of the organization are accurate. The Bookkeeper also performs routine financial calculations and general ledger duties. The Bookkeeper may also check the accuracy of calculations performed by other employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Operates computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
  2. Checks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  3. Classifies, records, and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
  4. Debits, credits, and total accounts in computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.
  5. Receives, records, and banks cash, checks, and vouchers.
  6. Complies with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  7. Compiles statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
  8. Codes documents according to company procedures.
  9. Reconciles or notes and reports discrepancies found in records.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises or assists in supervising others. Plans and schedules work and apply policy, as directed. Prepares and conducts performance appraisals. May also perform duties of the same or closely allied nature.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; three to five years’ experience in bookkeeping or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

The ability to understand more advanced computer skills and be proficient in the advanced knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Teams, desktop and Cloud applications as well as data management systems. Experience working with Flex Accounting Software.

Bilingual is a plus
