About the Role:

We are seeking a Fabrication Inspector 1. The Fabrication Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that manufactured components meet stringent quality and safety standards before they proceed to the next stage of production or delivery. This position involves meticulous examination of fabricated parts using precision measurement tools to verify dimensional accuracy and surface integrity. The inspector collaborates closely with production teams to identify defects, recommend corrective actions, and maintain compliance with industry specifications and customer requirements. By upholding rigorous inspection protocols, the Fabrication Inspector helps minimize rework, reduce waste, and enhance overall product reliability. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the manufacturing process by safeguarding product quality and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing dimensional and surface inspections.
• Experience in using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with manufacturing quality standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
• Previous experience in optical fabrication or manufacturing industries.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed dimensional inspections of fabricated components using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Conduct thorough surface inspections to detect defects such as scratches, digs, or surface irregularities that could affect product performance.
• Document inspection results accurately and maintain comprehensive records to support quality assurance and traceability requirements.
• Collaborate with fabrication and engineering teams to communicate inspection findings and assist in troubleshooting and resolving quality issues.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and quality standards throughout the inspection process.

Skills:

The required skills such as the use of calipers and micrometers are essential for performing precise dimensional inspections, ensuring that each part meets exact specifications. Surface inspection skills enable the inspector to identify defects that could compromise product integrity or safety, which is critical in maintaining high-quality standards. Dimensional inspection expertise allows the inspector to verify that components conform to design tolerances, preventing costly errors downstream. Preferred skills like familiarity with computerized inspection systems enhance efficiency and accuracy in data collection and analysis. Additionally, strong communication and documentation skills are used daily to report findings clearly and collaborate effectively with production and engineering teams.
