Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Norfolk, Virginia, featuring 300 Independent Living units, a 33-bed Skilled Nursing unit, a 40-bed Assisted Living unit, and a 34-bed Memory Support unit.

We are seeking highly qualified, full- time Certified Nursing and Registered Medication Aides to join our team to deliver excellent care for our residents. The ideal candidates will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population.

Current shifts available:

  • 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Full-Time)
  • 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Full-Time)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized care and support to residents in accordance with their individual care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and track vital signs and weights; assist with medications and treatments under the guidance of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility assistance.
  • Ensure safe lifting, transferring, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and approved equipment such as gait belts and mechanical lifts.
  • Maintain a safe, restraint-free environment and implement strategies to prevent falls.
  • Encourage and assist residents in engaging with social, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
  • Provide transportation assistance for residents to on-site and off-site appointments and activities.
  • Assist with resident admissions, discharges, and transitions as needed.
  • Accurately document daily care and promptly report any changes in residents’ conditions.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to other Health Services departments as required.
  • Sign-on bonus available for eligible candidates.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Registered Medication Aide (RMA) certifications in the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience; long-term care experience preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Knowledge and experience in medical terminology, medical records management, and proper handling of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Positive, engaging attitude with a genuine commitment to working effectively with elderly and/or disabled individuals.
  • Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact tactfully with colleagues, residents, families, visitors, and the public.
  • Demonstrated passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults within a supportive Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) environment.
  • Physically able to exert at least 50 pounds of force to assist residents with mobility (e.g., transferring in/out of wheelchairs or beds) and perform activities including sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, maintaining balance, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
