FLSA Status: Exempt

Compensation Range: $85K - $95K (discretionary year-end bonus)

The Spirit of the Position: The Director of Operations - Chicago Parking Meters supports the General Manager with a complete oversight for the operations of assigned departments and special projects to ensure 24/7 professional parking management. As a company devoted to promoting an employee-focused servant leadership culture, the Director of Operations will support the programs and initiatives originating from our home office and help to support the individual needs of their operational teams throughout their assigned portfolio.

Principal Job Duties:

  • Ensure strict adherence to all obligations outlined in the contractual agreement between LAZ Parking Chicago and the client, maintaining operational integrity, compliance, and performance.
  • Lead, direct, and develop Supervisors while ensuring all departmental practices comply with the Teamsters 727 Collective Bargaining and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of union and non-union employees, promoting a culture of accountability, integrity, and alignment with LAZ Parkings values.
  • Work with Managers and Supervisors under direct supervision to ensure projects and operational requests are completed on schedule.
  • Oversee all inventory management functions, including tracking, auditing, reporting, and distributing materials for the Chicago Parking Meter System.
  • Partner with organizational leadership to maintain accurate inventory levels, reliable equipment, and readiness standards that support operational continuity.
  • Enforce rigorous security protocols for all equipment and assets, including keys, canisters, parts, phones, GPS devices, and fleet items.
  • Ensure warehouse and inventory areas meet organizational standards for safety, cleanliness, regulatory compliance, and efficient space utilization.
  • Lead planning and execution of initiatives, programs, and projects related to inventory and maintenance operations, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on operational performance, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality and compliance standards.
  • Oversee compliance with Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes to ensure proper handling, tracking, and documentation of returned materials.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Maintenance Department to ensure service, repair, and installation activities meet compliance standards, operational timelines, and performance expectations.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure proper, compliant, and quality-controlled installation or removal of parking meters.
  • Management and maintenance of vehicle fleet including the daily assignment of vehicles, scheduling PMs and maintain accurate serviceable inventory.
  • Evaluates new electronic, mechanical, and computerized systems and softwares to provide a more cost-effective utilization of operational resources with objectives to improve current methods of operation and to eliminate labor-intensive tasks wherever possible.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • 5+ years in Management role.
  • Parking management, fleet management or maintenance management experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point and General Microsoft Office Applications.

Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work in the elements heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
  • Ability bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
