About This Position

Buyer / Procurement Specialist

Salary: $60,000 - 75,000/year
Manage the purchasing and procurement of materials, components, and services required for manufacturing operations.
Ensure timely availability of materials to support production schedules while optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance.
Maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor vendor performance to ensure consistent supply chain reliability.
Support inventory management, cost reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Responsibilities
  • Source and procure raw materials, components, and production supplies required for manufacturing operations.
  • Create and manage purchase orders based on production forecasts and material requirements planning (MRP).
  • Ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials to prevent production disruptions.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and resolve delivery delays or supply issues.
  • Coordinate with production planning and inventory teams to maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to support procurement needs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors to ensure consistent supply and service.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, pricing, and delivery reliability.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve issues related to shortages, defects, or delivery delays.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contract terms with suppliers.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations and alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Track and report on material cost trends and purchasing performance.
  • Evaluate opportunities for bulk purchasing or long-term agreements to improve pricing.
  • Work closely with production planning to align purchasing with manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate material availability while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure accurate receipt and tracking of materials.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
Requirements
  • 35 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Experience working with ERP or MRP systems.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business software.
