About This Position

Field Service TechnicianJob Summary:

The Field Service Technician will perform repair work and maintenance for lift trucks and other equipment. This position reports to the Field Service Manager or Service Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Daily travel to customer location(s)
  • Identifies/troubleshoot mechanical problems with lift trucks or other equipment.
  • Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
  • Performs repairs, replacements, or preventative maintenance.
  • Performs further tests that may include test driving the vehicle to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
  • Estimate or quote repair costs.
  • Maintain personal service van and inventory as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of the specialized area and general equipment repair.
  • Excellent mechanical repair skills.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to read work orders.
  • Must be willing to submit and pass an annual MVR check.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work safely in areas with potential exposure to cold/hot temperatures, noise pollution, dust, solvents, fuels, and battery acid.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Must be able to inspect vehicle to determine repairs needed.
  • Must be able to stand for 6+ hours daily.
  • Must have good dexterity and grip strength; repetitive hand and wrist motions required.
  • Good binocular vision to inspect repair work.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
