The Vice President of Data Center Construction is a senior management professional responsible for overseeing and directing construction projects from inception to completion across Fleet’s global portfolio. The position requires a deep understanding of construction management, strategic planning, financial oversight, and leadership. You will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. The scope includes multiple concurrent campus-level planning activities and oversight of Safety, Schedule, Quality, Predictable Construction Execution, Policies, and Procedures for deployment of new capacity.
The Vice President is also responsible for leading Safety and Quality expectations, as well as schedule and cost oversight for predictable construction delivery at both project and campus levels. You will safely build and deliver high-quality, world-class data centers while fulfilling design specifications and environmental and sustainability standards, delivering on time and within budget. You will oversee team accountability for on-schedule delivery of projects by ensuring project progress reports, including scope, schedule, and budget, are provided. You will establish, review, approve, and communicate risk mitigation goals and update metrics, dashboards, and/or scorecards to drive progress in collaboration with program management teams. The position has people management responsibilities, including hiring the best talent and building the team, driving employee growth and development, executing projects, and managing performance. It also champions a culture of accelerating growth, driving customer success, enabling business transformation through technology, and advancing the velocity of Fleet’s transformation.
How will you make a difference?
- Drives Results: Oversees and manages the team on end to end all data center construction. Provides strategic direction and coaching to construction teams and external partners to facilitate and accomplish complex, critical issues that may significantly impact construction projects.
- Safety and Regulation: Oversees safe worksites by defining and adhering to organizational and industry procedures. Reviews prior audit results and relevant legislation to recommend, and manage safety compliance, and other long-term initiatives. Guides conversations with senior and relevant stakeholders to ensure lessons learned are communicated throughout.
- Change Management: Oversees the development and implementation of organizational policies and processes with Leadership Team, resulting in cost savings, schedule optimization, enhanced customer service, or improved operational management.
- Coordination: Strategizes long-term opportunities with internal and external partners to integrate growth opportunities, best practices, and implementation of lessons learned.
- Financial Acumen: Champions frugality and partners to implement highly cost-effective solutions for the strategic and tactical delivery of data center construction projects with high degree of predictability and certainty.
- Managing Resources: Oversees the implementation of feedback to the team regarding resource procurement, allocation, and inventory.
- Project Tracking: Oversees team's accountability for on-schedule delivery of multiple projects by ensuring project progress reports including scope, schedule, and budget are provided. This is executed in collaboration with Program Management leadership. Leads direct customer interface to develop aggressive and realistic schedules and tracks delivery with mechanisms to engage customers on progress. Manages appropriate “get well” adjustments and improvements as required to delight customers with quantified business outcomes and timelines.
- Risk Mitigation: Establishes, reviews, approves, and communicates risk mitigation goals to Leadership Team. Oversees and develops metrics, dashboards, and/or scorecards to drive progress. Analyzes safety metrics and communicates and applies results to drive project action and individual development to lower-level staff and vendors.
- Technical Acumen: Approves recommendations for innovative delivery options utilizing the best practices and trends, drives the development and implementation of all organizational procedures and standards, and ensures they are followed by all team members and vendors.
- Budget and Controls: Working with the cost and estimating teams to develop budgets to ensure that the projects have all the resources required to meet their objectives within agreed financial parameters. Directs and drives the team on scope, schedule, and budget of the project. Proactively monitors and ensures alignment with established project controls to ensure on time deliveries.
- Team Management: Assessing and supporting the work of the Regional and sub-regional teams with respect to project delivery aligning Safety, Quality, Schedule Performance, Cost Management and Environmental/Community engagement targeting consistency across the region.
- General Contractors (GC) and Vendors: Collaborate on selection, onboarding of highly qualified, top performing, most reliable pool of Data Center General Contractors and Suppliers. Working in partnership with the supply chain to onboard new GCs and suppliers. Manage Master Service Agreement negotiations, including alignments on project delivery methods such as GC Prime, Electrical Prime, Mechanical Prime, Design-Build, EPMC, etc., and strategic plans on volume-based build allocations.
- Goal Alignment: Monitoring delivery performance and developing plans to improve in line with strategic objectives. Partners with other internal teams to maintain the corporate vision and create long-term and strategic goals for the regions and their projects.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction project management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field. And 10+ years’ experience working on data center projects or equivalent experience
- 10+ years project management experience
- 10+ years' Client or Contractor side onsite Data Center construction and leadership experience

Expected Salary Range DOE: $240,000- $300,000 Base + Discretionary Bonus
