Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives? Join our team as a Tenant Support Worker and become a vital part of helping individuals thrive in safe, supportive housing environments. If you’re a natural relationship-builder with a heart for community and a knack for problem-solving, this is your opportunity to create lasting impact every single day.

Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will play a vital role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive housing environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Tenant Support Worker provides emotional support, crisis intervention, and guidance to help tenants build essential life and tenancy skills. This includes facilitating access to community resources, promoting wellness and personal development, mediating conflicts, and encouraging goal-setting. The role also involves coordinating with external agencies, documenting tenant interactions, and participating in case management and planning. Through proactive relationship-building, collaboration, and advocacy, the TSW helps tenants maintain successful tenancies and improve their overall quality of life.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Community Social Services, Mental Health, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting individuals or families facing multiple barriers to housing. The role requires strong knowledge of social issues such as homelessness, mental health, and addictions, along with an understanding of housing systems and harm reduction approaches.

Essential skills include crisis intervention, conflict resolution, community engagement, and cultural sensitivity. A valid First Aid Certificate, Naloxone, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), an unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License, and a solid grasp of the Residential Tenancy Act are required. Strong communication, time management, and computer proficiency are essential, along with the ability to build trusting, professional relationships with a diverse tenant population. Please note that TSWs are not required to transport tenants in their personal vehicles; driving responsibilities are limited to operating the program van for the food program.

This position follows a Standard schedule, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Monday to Friday.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
