The Opportunity

The Warehouse & Utility Coordinator is a dual-purpose role designed to support daily warehouse operations and field safety for Glass Roots Construction. This position is primarily responsible for receiving, organizing, and distributing materials and equipment used by field crews. Additionally, this role serves as a technical resource for utility locating, ensuring that underground infrastructure is accurately identified and protected before and during construction.

The successful candidate is a detail-oriented logistics professional who is also comfortable performing field inspections. This position reports to the Director of Operations and offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between supply chain management and field safety operations.

  • Order Fulfillment: Pick, pack, and stage orders accurately for field technicians and project crews.
  • Shipping & Receiving: Load/unload deliveries using forklifts or pallet jacks; verify quantities against POs.
  • Material Tracking: Maintain accurate inventory counts in the warehouse management system (WMS) or company database.
  • Equipment Management: Track tools, test equipment, and consumables issued to and returned by field personnel.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Follow OSHA protocols, maintain a clean facility, and report any hazards or damaged materials.
Secondary: Utility Locating & Field Support (Approx. 30%)
  • Utility Locating: Perform locating services using specialized equipment to accurately mark underground utilities, preventing damage and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Conduct on-site inspections to ensure work complies with project specifications and regulatory guidelines.
  • Field Coordination: Work closely with project teams to provide real-time support on underground infrastructure concerns.
  • Safety Leadership: Lead safety briefings related to excavation and utility hazards; proactively address potential field risks.
  • Documentation: Create detailed quality reports and track findings to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Experience: 1+ year of warehouse/logistics experience AND previous experience in utility locating (essential).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with utility locating systems and basic computer literacy for data entry/inventory tracking.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods on hilly, winding, or uneven terrain.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required).
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and a commitment to workplace safety.
