Job Overview

Apex Refrigeration Cooling and Heating LLC is seeking an experienced Lead HVAC Technician to join our growing field operations team. This role is ideal for a skilled HVAC professional who not only excels in diagnostics, repairs, and installations but is also passionate about mentoring and leading other technicians in the field.

As a Lead Technician, you will help guide service and installation teams, support technician development, and ensure projects are completed with the highest standards of quality and professionalism. This role requires at least 5 years of HVAC industry experience, strong technical expertise, and a willingness to teach, train, and help develop the next generation of HVAC technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Leadership & Technical Work
    • Lead HVAC service and installation projects for residential and light commercial systems

    • Diagnose, repair, and install HVAC equipment including furnaces, condensers, air handlers, and heat pumps

    • Oversee job site work to ensure installations meet quality, safety, and code standards

    • Assist junior technicians and apprentices with troubleshooting and best practices

  • Mentorship & Training
    • Provide guidance and support to developing technicians in the field

    • Help train team members on diagnostics, installation techniques, and safety procedures

    • Encourage professional development and assist team members working toward certifications

  • Customer Service & Communication
    • Communicate clearly with customers regarding system issues and recommended solutions

    • Maintain professionalism and strong customer relationships on service calls and installations

    • Collaborate with office staff to ensure efficient scheduling and service coordination

  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Maintain accurate service records and documentation

    • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company procedures

    • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working condition

Qualifications

  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of HVAC installation, repair, and diagnostic experience

    • Strong field experience with residential and light commercial HVAC systems

    • Licensing & Education

    • Valid D or B HVAC License required

    • High School Diploma or GED

  • Technical Skills
    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities

    • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical HVAC components

    • Ability to read and understand system schematics and installation guidelines

  • Professional Skills
    • Leadership mindset with willingness to mentor and train others

    • Strong communication skills with customers and team members

    • Ability to work independently while also supporting team collaboration

  • Other Requirements
    • Must provide basic hand tools

    • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
