POSITION SUMMARY

Leading daily purchasing activities within a manufacturing environment (aerospace, nuclear, medical, industrial) while actively performing senior buyer purchasing duties. Ensures uninterrupted material flow to production while maintaining compliance with aerospace/medical quality standards, regulatory requirements and cost objectives. This role combines supervision with hands-on high-value and technically critical procurement activities, strategic sourcing, supplier development and cross-functional collaboration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies with production and business goals.
  • Provide leadership support and supervision to MRO Buyer and administrative support staff in procurement activities.
  • Perform hands-on senior level purchasing of aerospace, nuclear and/or medical grade raw materials and coordinate outside processing activities.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times and terms and conditions with suppliers and/or vendors within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, monitor order status and resolve delivery issues.
  • Identify, evaluate and onboard qualified suppliers and monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators, such as on time delivery, quality, cost and responsiveness.
  • Review requests and prepare proposals, purchase orders and/or request for quotes.
  • Estimate value of procured items based on knowledge of market or evaluating alternative materials and supplies.
  • Support new product introduction, engineering changes and/or supplier constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Planning and Finance.
  • Maintain purchasing records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality and inventories.
  • Monitor and receive feedback from cross-functional departments regarding defective or unacceptable material, equipment, tools, supplies and/or services, determine source of issue and communicate with vendors.
  • Keep up with market trends, changes in business practices, and new or altered materials.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities with cross-functional departments to establish lead times and maintain inventory in accordance with the production schedule.
  • Locate, qualify, establish and maintain network of vendors to supply materials and services.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain minimum and maximum quantities.
  • Prepare requests for bid and contact vendors for bid quotations.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as hiring, transfers or disciplinary measures.
  • Ensures team and employees work within the safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and accepts constructive feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
  • 5 - 8 years manufacturing purchasing related experience, or equivalent of education and experience.
  • Supplier contract and long-lead material management experience.
  • Experience in regulated environments (ISO 13485).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High level of attention to detail, attention to detail and thorough completion of work tasks.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of validation, traceability and supplier qualification processes.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle workflow and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Read and comprehend verbal and written instructions

Pay Rate: The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc.
