Maintenance Technician 1 at Frost Valley YMCA – Claryville, New York

This position is responsible to assist with tasks relating to general maintenance. The Maintenance Technician 1 will work with the Maintenance Director to achieve a team approach to facilities and resource management, ensuring that all services are of a standard that will meet the needs of the customer and the organization.

• Assist with construction/general contracting skills including carpentry, painting, sheetrock, spackle and tape, basic electrical repairs, plumbing, roofing, general repairs, water, sewer, masonry work, HVAC, vehicle maintenance, and heavy equipment operation
• Provide guest support, assisting with firewood delivery and general grounds care, including mowing and weed wacking, trash/recycling collection, snow and ice removal
• Maintain a safe working environment and ensure safe work practices
• Promote effective teamwork in a friendly and cooperative work environment
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• General maintenance, building and construction experience
• Skills such as general plumbing, electrical, carpentry, automotive repairs, heavy equipment operation
• Possess a valid US Driver’s License

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
• Employee may be required to traverse on rough terrain.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
