GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Manufacturing Technology Instructor leads and shapes the Manufacturing Technology education and programs and will:

  • Serve as the primary instructor in the Manufacturing Technology Certificate and Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) Machinist Technology Certificate of Development Programs;
  • Build upon the Certificate Programs to offer Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and Associate of Science (AS - Transfer Degree) Programs;
  • Manage and maintain the CNC Machining Laboratory, and plan and implement new initiatives;
  • Serve as the content expert for Manufacturing Technology and integrate the discipline into other programs within the College's Manufacturing, Engineering Technology and Trades (METT) Division.

The Manufacturing Technology Instructor will also demonstrate a commitment to student success, professional development, and the introduction of courses/programs to ensure relevance to local industry and the community. Teaching assignments will include day and evening classes at the NCMC Main Campus in Petoskey, and potentially at NCMC satellite locations in Cheboygan and Gaylord.

DUTIES:

  • Teach 12 contact hours per semester, reserving 3 contact hours for development and strategic marketing of Manufacturing Technology programs, or teach 15 contact hours per semester.
  • Hold required office hours at times convenient for student consultations.
  • Prepare instructional materials and deliver instruction to students in a variety of formats and settings, including but not limited to, classroom, laboratory, and hybrid.
  • Provide timely feedback on students' progress, including assessment of student work.
  • Work with Director of METT to maintain updated master syllabi of courses and mapping of Course Learning Outcomes to Program Learning Outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit documentation such as course syllabi, student attendance, final course grades, and academic information required by the college.
  • Engage in college service in the areas of curriculum development, program outcomes assessment, program review, and instructional improvement.
  • Collaborate with adjunct faculty in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, and Trades and related fields to strengthen programs and promote student success.
  • Serve on college committees and assist in the strategic planning process.
  • Assist on occasion with non-credit training classes in Manufacturing Technology to advance Workforce & Community Education goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate Applied Science (AAS) degree in Manufacturing Technology or related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in Manufacturing or related field.
  • Ability to teach courses in CNC Machining and at least one related Manufacturing Technology field, such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Blueprint Reading, Shop Math, or Quality Control/Lean Manufacturing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS (or higher) in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related field.
  • BS (or higher) in Career and Technical Education or related field.
  • Ability to teach courses in one or more disciplines within the field of Engineering Technology, such as Electrical Systems, Factory Automation, Fluid Power, Mechanical Systems, Mechatronics, Programmable Logic Controllers, or Robot Operations & Programming.
  • Familiarity with Amatrol training systems.
  • Teaching experience in high school CTE, college level or industry training.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with educational program accreditation.
