Position Overview
Talantage is seeking an Associate or Counsel with a minimum of 2 years of commercial foreclosure, real estate litigation, and creditors' rights experience to join our client's Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy practice.
This role will focus primarily on commercial foreclosure and real estate litigation for clients including government-sponsored enterprises, special servicers, banks, and CLOs. The ideal candidate will have strong courtroom experience, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex matters efficiently.

Position Overview
Talantage is seeking an Associate or Counsel with a minimum of 2 years of commercial foreclosure, real estate litigation, and creditors' rights experience to join our client's Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy practice.
This role will focus primarily on commercial foreclosure and real estate litigation for clients including government-sponsored enterprises, special servicers, banks, and CLOs. The ideal candidate will have strong courtroom experience, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex matters efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on commercial foreclosures, real estate litigation, and creditors' rights across a variety of asset classes, including hospitality, multifamily, retail, office, and industrial.
- Manage all phases of the commercial foreclosure process, including title review, drafting notices of default, pre-negotiation letters, foreclosure complaints, receivership motions, sale confirmation documentation, and summary judgment motions/briefing.
- Litigate disputed foreclosure actions, including court appearances, oral arguments, and discovery management.
- Handle receivership, lien priority, and fraudulent transfer litigation in both federal and state courts.
- Draft and negotiate forbearance agreements and loan modifications.
- Provide support on commercial bankruptcy and single-asset real estate cases (experience or interest preferred).
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years' law firm experience, including at least 2 years focused on commercial foreclosure.
- Strong courtroom experience preferred.
- Exceptional analytical ability with creative problem-solving skills.
- Superior writing skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple matters efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills.
Pursuant to Illinois law, the salary range for this position is:
- Associate: $235,000 – $345,000
- Counsel: $175,000 – $210,000
