Kitchen Porter at The Octagon at Exmouth Ltd – Exmouth, England

We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our friendly and dynamic kitchen team at The Octagon. This is a vital role that underpins the smooth and efficient running of our kitchen operations, ensuring our chefs can focus on creating delicious dishes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Washing Up: Efficiently and thoroughly wash and dry all kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and cooking equipment, both manually and using a dishwasher.

• Cleaning & Maintenance: Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including work surfaces, floors, walls, storage areas, and kitchen equipment. This includes regular deep cleaning tasks.

• Waste Management: Assist with the proper disposal of kitchen waste, including segregation for recycling, and ensure waste areas are kept clean and tidy.

• Stock Rotation & Storage: Assist with receiving deliveries, unpacking, and storing food and non-food items in an organised and hygienic manner, ensuring proper stock rotation.

• Basic Food Preparation (under supervision): On occasion and under the direct supervision of a chef, assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing vegetables or portioning ingredients.

• Adherence to Standards: Strictly adhere to all health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards (HACCP), and company policies.

• Team Support: Provide general assistance to the chefs and other kitchen staff as required, contributing to a positive and collaborative working environment.

• Equipment Care: Report any faulty equipment or maintenance issues to a senior member of staff promptly.

About You:

• No Experience Necessary: While previous experience in a kitchen environment is a bonus, it is not essential. Full training will be provided.

• Reliable & Punctual: You must be dependable and able to consistently arrive on time for shifts.

• Hardworking & Enthusiastic: A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn are crucial.

• Physically Fit: The role involves standing for long periods, lifting, and carrying items.

• Team Player: You should be able to work effectively as part of a team and take direction well.
