Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a non-profit organization and one of the largest Hispanic Community Development Corporations in the United States. The organization began with a group of student and community activists in 1967, and was incorporated and received non-profit status in 1969 to fight discrimination against the Mexican American community. Inspired by Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, we advocated for equity in education, politics, and labor conditions. CPLC is committed to empowering individuals through health & human services, housing, education, and economic development. Today, CPLC provides services to people of all backgrounds while honoring our Mexican-American roots.

This will be an in office position.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

  • You will perform professional-level work in coordinating compliance, safety, and risk management activities across all CPLC programs.
  • You will analyze incidents and operational practices, recommend corrective actions, interpret safety and compliance policies, and contribute to organizational risk mitigation strategies.

  • You have experience with nonprofit administration, safety, and/or compliance.
  • You have a strong commitment to compliance and confidentiality.
  • You are an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing with superior interpersonal skills.
  • You are extremely detail-oriented.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • High school diploma required.
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a coordinator or administrative role in a nonprofit, government position. Preference will be given to individuals with previous work experience within a corporate compliance, safety, or risk environment. An associate’s degree or certification in a related area is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may meet the qualifications of this position.
  • Candidates must meet all regulatory and credentialing requirements applicable to assigned programs.
  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate will acquire and maintain working knowledge of both policy and operational practices of assigned programs and business units throughout CPLC and utilize appropriate techniques and reporting methods to monitor and track current or developing compliance, risk, and safety issues.
  • The candidate must be able to apply deductive reasoning in reporting data and exercise independent judgment when analyzing incidents, compliance gaps, and operational risks.
  • Proficiency in computer fundamentals and business software is required, Office 365 preferred.
  • The candidate must be self-directed and work independently and must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to provide guidance and professional recommendations to the programs and business units.
