The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Summary of Job Function

The Central Access Representative position plays a key role in the health system interacting with patients, providers, payers and counterparts involved in each patients care,

Ensures accuracy in all required demographic, financial, referral/authorization, clinical, and other registration data is accurately scheduled, collected, verified, and communicated as a core competency of this role,

Supports departmental policies, practices, and initiatives in support of patient experience, throughput, safety standards and revenue cycle outcomes,

Functions include scheduling of hospital and physician services for all RWJBH sites, pre-registration or registration, pre-admission/admission, insurance verification, referral coordination, pre certification, screening for financial counseling, eligibility determination, and pre-service estimate communication and collection of any required copays, deductibles or co-insurances,

Collaborates, communicates and coordinates to create a positive experience through the entire patient access and revenue cycle flow,

Job Qualifications and Education

High school education or equivalent with emphasis on computer literacy and communication skills,

Customer service experience required,

Knowledge of medical terminology, hospital financial systems, and insurance processes preferred,

1+ years of relevant experience in patient access preferred,

Patient Access Certification, CHAA, preferred,

Successful completion of all training orientation programs required,

Job-Specific Requirements

Accurately performs all the appropriate tasks to completion for data capture and entry

Accurately performs all the appropriate tasks to completion for hospital/physician scheduling, pre-registration, and financial clearance,

Follows departmental processes and procedures in support of accuracy, safety, patient experience and revenue cycle outcomes,

Meets individual productivity and quality expectations in all job functions,

Supports positive patient experience, safety, and revenue cycle outcomes,

Adheres to all policy, regulatory and compliance guidelines

Ensures that appropriate standards of practice meet the needs defined in the organizations mission for excellence and corporate compliance guidelines including and not limited to patient experience, privacy, safety, and revenue cycle policies,

Communication and Documentation

Ensure all account documentation is accurate and complete for all system tasks,

Demonstrates professionalism with patients, visitors, providers, payers, and colleagues,

Communicates to superiors when supplies, systems, tools and/or workflow processes needed to do their job are not sufficient,

Works collaboratively across teams, with peers, and revenue cycle departments,
