We’re continuing to invest in our digital products and platforms across Australia and New Zealand, and are growing our Digital Product team to support the next stage of our digital strategy.
It’s an exciting time to join the team as we continue to evolve our digital experiences for teachers, students and schools.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Digital Product, the Digital Product Lead will be responsible for product vision, strategy, roadmap, delivery and performance of our digital products. This is a new opportunity to take ownership of product outcomes and influence how our digital products deliver value for teachers, students, schools and the business.
The role combines strong product management and technical acumen with customer, market and commercial insight to deliver measurable value for customers and the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product strategy and ownership: Develop and manage product strategy, value proposition, roadmap and priorities, based on customer needs, market insight and business objectives.
- Product development and lifecycle management: Manage the backlog, define requirements and acceptance criteria, prioritise work and coordinate delivery across the product lifecycle.
- Customer engagement and research: Engage regularly with customers, plan and conduct research, and use customer feedback and data to understand needs and inform product decisions.
- Commercial and market awareness: Maintain an understanding of customer buying behaviour, competitors, channels to market and commercial performance, and apply this knowledge to product planning and decision-making.
- Innovation and experimentation: Identify and assess opportunities to improve the product, challenge existing approaches and use prototypes, pilots and testing to validate ideas and inform decisions.
- Digital, technical and AI knowledge: Apply sufficient technical knowledge to work effectively with technology teams and suppliers, understand feasibility and trade-offs, and support informed product decisions. Maintain knowledge of AI and emerging technologies and identify appropriate opportunities to apply them safely and responsibly.
- Product performance: Define measures of success and monitor customer, product, operational and commercial performance. Use evidence to identify improvements and support prioritisation and investment decisions.
- Communication and stakeholder management: Communicate product direction, priorities, value and progress clearly to different audiences. Work collaboratively with local and global teams, senior stakeholders and third-party suppliers to support effective decision-making and delivery.
- Ownership and adaptability: Take responsibility for product outcomes, identify and communicate risks, follow through on agreed actions, develop new skills and adapt ways of working as customer and business needs change.
About You
Essential:
- Proven experience managing digital products throughout their lifecycle, including strategy, discovery, roadmaps, prioritisation, delivery, launch and continuous improvement.
- Experience using research, feedback and behavioural or usage data to understand customer needs and inform product decisions.
- Ability to evaluate customer value, business benefit, cost, risk, competitors, buying behaviour and routes to market.
- Experience applying evidence, experimentation and learning to improve digital products or ways of working.
- Confidence using digital technologies, AI and automation, with an understanding of their opportunities, limitations and responsible application.
- Ability to communicate product direction, technical concepts, options and value clearly to varied audiences, with strong collaboration and influencing skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Demonstrated ownership of outcomes, sound judgement, adaptability and commitment to continuous learning.
- Strong planning and project management capability, including translating needs into requirements, coordinating dependencies, managing risks, budgets and timelines, and maintaining clear accountability.
Desirable:
- Understanding of accessibility, privacy, security, data governance as they apply to digital products.
- Knowledge of the Australia and New Zealand education market and digital learning environments.
- Experience working with Agile methods and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
