Job Description

Friedman Tubular - Steel Pipe Manufacturing (ERW)
Make American steel pipe. As a Machine Operator at Friedman Tubular - Friedman Industries' pipe operation in Lone Star, Texas - you'll run stations on our API-certified Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) pipe mills - forming, welding, sizing, and cutoff - turning steel coil into finished carbon steel pipe in sizes 3-1/2" through 8-5/8" O.D. for the construction, water well, and energy markets. You'll learn your position through hands-on training, run setups and changeovers between pipe sizes, keep quality tight to API and customer specs, and take care of your equipment and your area. Pipe or steel experience is a plus, but it's not the only path in - if you've done reliable, hands-on industrial work and take pride in doing the job right the first time, we'll train you on ours.

Above-market benefits: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, life & disability insurance - plus profit sharing. Monday-Friday daytime 12-hour shifts (occasional Saturdays).

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Safely operate an assigned station on the ERW pipe mill - forming, welding, sizing, or cutoff - monitoring controls and production flow throughout the shift.
- Complete verbal and hands-on training for your mill floor position, including position-specific safety instruction, required PPE, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform setups and changeovers as the mill transitions between pipe sizes and customer orders.
- Perform in-process quality checks (dimensions, wall thickness, weld seam) to hold API and customer specifications; flag nonconforming product.
- Perform preventive maintenance on necessary equipment and components so operations continue in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
- Inspect machinery and workstations and keep your area clean, organized, and safe (housekeeping/5S).
- Own safety at your station: PPE, LOTO, inspections, and stop-work authority when something isn't right.
- Work as a team to fill customer orders and flex across assignments as production priorities change.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- High school diploma or GED.
- Dependability - a record of reliable attendance and sustained employment.
- Positive attitude, respect toward teammates, and a willingness to be trained on our equipment.
- Basic math and measurement skills for quality checks and production documentation.
- Ability to perform physical work throughout the shift in a manufacturing environment.
- Full-time availability for 12-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as production requires.
- Safety discipline and willingness to stop unsafe work.

NICE TO HAVE
- Pipe or tube mill experience - ERW forming, welding, sizing, or cutoff.
- Proficient working knowledge within the field, certification, or both.
- Steel or heavy manufacturing background - service center, fabrication, foundry, stamping, or similar.
- 480V electrical experience.
- Mechanical aptitude - troubleshooting, adjustments, preventive-maintenance support, hand and measuring tools.

OUR BENEFITS
We've built a benefits program that is above market - competitive in our industry and in every region where we operate. Friedman employees enjoy:
- 100% employer-paid health, dental, life, and short & long-term disability insurance, Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, Education reimbursement
