Job Description
The Banquet Floater / Houseman is responsible for supporting hotel banquet operations, maintaining cleanliness throughout the property, assisting with meeting room setup and breakdown, and providing laundry and housekeeping support as needed. This position ensures banquet spaces, public areas, equipment, and linen supplies are clean, organized, and ready for guests.
ResponsibilitiesBanquet Setup & Breakdown
- Set up banquet rooms, meeting spaces, tables, chairs, and equipment according to event specifications.
- Break down and reset banquet spaces following events.
- Move and store banquet equipment, furniture, and supplies safely and efficiently.
- Ensure banquet areas are clean, organized, and ready for upcoming events.
Houseman & Public Area Support
- Maintain cleanliness of hallways, lobbies, elevators, stairwells, public restrooms, and other common areas.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners throughout the hotel.
- Maintain cleanliness of back-of-house areas, laundry rooms, storage closets, and service areas.
- Deliver linens, towels, amenities, and supplies to housekeeping staff as needed.
- Assist with stripping beds and removing used linens from guest rooms when assigned.
- Stock linen closets and housekeeping carts as needed.
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or damaged equipment to management promptly.
Laundry Support
- Operate commercial washing machines and dryers according to hotel procedures.
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and stock linens, towels, and cleaning rags.
- Follow proper loading specifications and laundry handling procedures.
- Clean dryer filters daily and maintain laundry equipment as trained.
- Keep laundry carts clean, organized, and free of debris.
- Sweep and mop laundry floors and ensure linens are stored off the floor.
- Assist with stocking linen carts and distributing clean linens throughout the hotel.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and/or previous hotel or related experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate information and instructions clearly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or high-pressure situations.
- Must be flexible and willing to assist across banquet, housekeeping, laundry, and hotel operations.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift.
- Ability to regularly push and pull laundry carts, including loaded carts weighing approximately 50–400 lbs., depending on property needs.
- Ability to occasionally handle wet linens or laundry loads weighing approximately 25–150 lbs., depending on property needs.
- Must be able to safely perform physical duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling. The Banquet Floater / Houseman may work in banquet rooms, guest areas, back-of-house spaces, laundry facilities, and storage areas. Schedule flexibility, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and evenings, may be required based on hotel operations and banquet events.
