About Us
The laboratory of Dr. Arne Gennerich is seeking a highly motivated research technician to support basic and disease-focused research on intracellular transport and its role in neurodevelopmental disorders. The work is focused on the neuronal dynein–dynactin–JIP3 (DDJ) motor complex, which powers long-distance retrograde transport in axons, and on understanding how this transport machinery adapts to changing cellular demands and is disrupted by disease-causing mutations. We employ protein biochemistry, molecular biology, quantitative single-molecule fluorescence microscopy, and optical tweezers-based force measurements to define the molecular mechanisms that regulate DDJ transport and to determine how mutations in DYNC1H1 (dynein) and MAPK8IP3 (JIP3) impair motor function. These studies aim to establish genotype–mechanism–phenotype relationships that advance our understanding of neurodevelopmental disease and provide a foundation for mechanism-based therapeutic strategies.
