Job Description

Description:

Overview:

The pool is the heart of Hotel Saint Vincent, serving as the most popular amenity during the hot summer season. Exclusive to hotel guests and members of The Chapel Club, the pool provides a premier experience for our most valued visitors.

Job Description:

The Pool Attendant is responsible for managing the pool experience for guests and members. In this role, you should be hyper-aware of all guests coming and going to the pool area, and diligently check them in and wristband them. You must greet guests upon arrival, check them in, help them get settled, offer them water and menus, and ensure that they are comfortable and have everything they need. Our Pool Attendants should be proactive in understanding what a guest might need, and lean into surprise and delight treats for our guests (cold towels, water service, etc.). You will help the bartenders bus tables, anticipate guests' needs, and help guests order if they need to. Maintaining an orderly and clean pool area is one of your most important duties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests upon arrival; ensure they are wearing a wristband
  • Help guests get settled and offer them water and menus
  • Be diligent about knowing who comes in and who goes out of the pool
  • Foster positive and friendly energy at the pool
  • Ensure high safety standards at the pool
  • Provide high-quality service to club members and guests
  • Build relationships with members and learn their preferences
  • Maintain pool exclusivity by ensuring no outside guests enter in a friendly way
  • Keep the pool very clean and tidy at all times; monitor towels
  • Be in communication with management about any needs or issues at the pool
  • Perform other duties as required
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • Comfortable conversing with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
  • Provides and accepts feedback positively, balancing directness with tact and consideration for the audience
  • Must be willing and able to lift 40lbs
  • Must be willing and able to work in hot conditions outdoors during the summer months
  • Observant, safety-conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in emergencies

Arriving guests with children:

  • As you are checking them in, quickly review the code of conduct: no running, splashing others, jumping into the pool repeatedly, or doing any unsafe acts towards guests
  • Let the parents kindly know they can not walk away from them either, as there is no lifeguard on duty.
  • Explain to the guests that at 3 PM the pool becomes adults only.

Arriving guests with no wristband:

  • Check in the guests via the stayover report or member report that you pick up from the front desk. Advise the guest that with the wristbands, they can just show you and walk in without having to stop and be verified by list.
  • If the visitors are not hotel guests nor Chapel Club members, advise them to visit the front desk to inquire about a membership, as the pool is exclusive.
    • If the guests are refusing to leave, you can always get the front desk manager or Chapel Club Manager involved so they can explain the member benefits.
  • If the member or guest has more than the allotted guest count (and it has not been approved by hotel management), then kindly let them know they have reached their maximum amount. If the member or guest is upset, you should get the front desk manager or Chapel Club Manager involved so they can explain the capacity and additional guest rules.

Cleanliness and Pool Presentation:

The opening pool attendant must ensure that towels are rolled, present at every chair, and furniture is properly wiped off before the pool opens at 9 AM. Ensure that public areas are alerted if trash needs attention or towels need to be laundered.

  • Walking around to ensure cleanliness during pool hours and shift is the responsibility of the pool attendant. Trash removal from bins and laundering of towels belong to the public area.
  • Place trash and any cups in bins.
  • Alert the public area when the bins are full of towels so they may launder them.
  • Retrieve and refill towels throughout the shift.

Greeting our Guests and Members:

  • Maintaining a positive attitude and welcoming our guests and members is key. Greet them intentionally, and not transactionally.
  • Walk around as you check your areas for cleanliness or rearranging furniture, and ask the guests how they are doing, whether they would like another drink, etc.
  • If a guest brings a concern to you from another department, make sure you let someone know.
  • Using your phone instead of greeting and being attentive to our guests may lead to documentation.

Closing the Pool:

  • Ensure that used towels are removed and brought to the back dock for laundering. P
  • Ensure that all cups and trash are thrown away
  • Ensure that glassware is removed and placed in the bar area. If there is no bar attendant or bar back, you can seek assistance from food and beverage.
