OHSU Knight Cancer Institute – Community Hematology Oncology (CHO), Beaverton, Oregon

The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute's Community Hematology Oncology (CHO) program is seeking an accomplished and visionary Breast Medical Oncologist to join our growing team in a leadership capacity. This is an exceptional opportunity to help shape and expand breast cancer services across the OHSU Health network while advancing the Knight Cancer Institute's mission to end cancer as we know it.

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership for breast oncology services within CHO and partner closely with multidisciplinary teams across the Knight Cancer Institute. This leader will play a key role in developing innovative care models that improve access to high-quality, evidence-based breast cancer care throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. 

Function/Duties of Position

Title: OHSU Clinical Associate (eligible for Clinical Assistant Professor)

This position will have responsibility for overseeing the Breast Cancer Program at our Community Hematology & Medical Oncology practices. While clinic responsibilities will most likely be focused on the Good Samaritan and Meridian Park locations, this Breast Cancer Specialist will be responsible for establishing and deploying consistent clinical standards across the community locations (a total of five sites). The Breast Cancer Specialist collaborates with the Breast Program at OHSU’s main campus to ensure consistent clinical standards and to deploy clinical trials at our community sites. While breast specialists have a specific focus, community hematology-oncology physicians are considered generalists and may see other patient types. The position includes primarily outpatient coverage, but on-call coverage across the group is required. Teaching and Research pursuits are expected, including clinical teaching of fellows in a community-based longitudinal clinic and participation in clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support of the mission, goals, and objectives of OHSU, The Knight Cancer Institute, The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, which includes the Community Hematology Oncology (CHO) Section and the School of Medicine.
  2. Care of patients with hematologic and oncologic disease at the Northwest Portland/Good Samaritan and Tualatin/Meridian Park locations.
  3. Participate with other Division and CHO staff and provider teams as needed.
  4. Participate in administrative committees and councils of OHSU, Legacy, and other community partners as approved by the Division Head and Section Chief.
  5. Engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with the knowledge and consent of the Division Head and Section Chief.
  6. Participate, as desired, in the education of medical students and house staff.
  7. Assure that every patient has an opportunity to be considered for a clinical trial.

Required Qualifications
  • MD, MD/PhD, DO, MBBS, or MBBCh
  • Medical oncologist/hematologist licensed to practice medicine in Washington and Oregon
  • Board-certified/board-eligible in medical oncology/hematology
  • A desire to practice in a community-based clinical environment as part of an academic health care system.

  • Demonstrated interest in breast cancer
  • Physician leadership experience
  • Demonstrates the background, focus, and drive to excel, as well as the ability to provide excellent clinical care to cancer patients in the community setting
