Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the processing, storing, pick up, and delivery of all incoming and outgoing supplies between the

hospital, both nursing homes, and all ancillary departments. Also serves as a back-up courier for the pickup and delivery

of supplies, records, specimens, linen, and other items. Assemble and deliver minor equipment and furniture, assist

with setting up with events, and maintain the cleanliness of the warehouse and offices.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

GENERAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Basic Computer Skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
  • May be required to change from one task to another or different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
  • May be scheduled as needed including overtime.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS & DEMANDS:

  • Have near normal hearing: Hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice.
  • Have near normal vision: Clarity of vision (both near and far), ability to distinguish colors.
  • Have good manual dexterity.
  • Have good eye-hand foot coordination.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks/motion.
  • Continuously within shift (67-100%): Standing, Walking.
  • Frequently within shift (34-66%): Bending/Stooping, Pushing/Pulling, Lift/carry up to 20lbs, Lift/carry greater than 20 lbs. with assistance.
  • Occasionally within shift (1-33%): Sitting, Climbing, Twist at waist, Lift/Carry greater than 50 lbs. with assistance, Reaching above shoulder.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to read inventory stock list and match to actual item and reviews and checks for accuracy, specification and need and processes all approved orders and requisitions.
  • Ability to place orders with distributors utilizing phone, automatic order entry, online ordering, or EDI. Combines all orders by vendor to ensure price competition and accuracy are achieved.
  • Verifies all packing slips against purchase orders.
  • Reports all major or consistent price discrepancies to the Supply Chain Director.
  • Communicates with all departments in relation to requisitions and orders that are in progress.
  • Ability to recognize needed changes in PAR levels due to recent usage and communicate needs to Manager.
  • Ability to rotate stock in store room and ensure no items are out of date.
  • Ability to organize orders and deliver in an accurate, safe, and timely manner.
  • Ability to learn computer purchasing system and use as required for job, as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with managers and personnel.
  • Requires minimal supervision in performance of job duties; is a self-starter.
  • Prioritize responsibilities to ensure completion of duties.
  • Ability to load/unload deliveries and transport safely to delivery location in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Helps to complete task in the Supply Chain Department that are not within the job description. Renders self available, when responsibilities have been met, to assist in areas that may require assistance within the materials.
  • Keeps a log for tracking information of non-PO items.
  • Assist vendor sales representative with logging into software if needed.
  • Assist with any outgoing shipments.

  • Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
  • Attends annual review and/or skills fair and department in-services, as scheduled.
  • Attempts to end conversations and other interactions in a positive manner; leaves others with a good impression of the Hospital Authority of Miller County and its employees.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission statement of the organization.

Requirements:

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Driver's License in good standing is required.
  • At least two years of experience with the Supply Chain function in the healthcare environment preferred.
