Our Behavioral Services team plays a critical role in helping individuals achieve greater success, independence, and quality of life through evidence-based behavioral supports and person-centered interventions.

Position Summary (Behavior Specialist | ABA | Behavioral Services | IDD Services)

The Behavior Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and training staff on individualized behavior support strategies for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving services through Our House, Inc.

Working under the supervision of the BCBA Clinical Supervisor, this position provides behavioral consultation and support across residential and day service programs while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, families, and agency leadership.

This role combines behavioral assessment, staff training, data analysis, and direct behavioral support to ensure participants receive high-quality, ethical, and person-centered services.

Success in This Position Looks Like

A successful Behavior Specialist will:

  • Develop effective behavior support plans that improve participant outcomes and quality of life
  • Build strong working relationships with residential and day program teams
  • Provide staff training that results in consistent implementation of behavior strategies
  • Maintain accurate behavioral data, documentation, and Medicaid-compliant records
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration with BCBAs, nurses, program leadership, and families
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to adjust interventions and improve outcomes
  • Support participants with professionalism, compassion, and person-centered practices
  • Ensure compliance with DDD regulations, agency standards, and ethical behavioral practices
Required Schedule

Full-Time

Primary Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

This position requires flexibility to support agency operations, including:

  • Two late days per week as needed
  • Occasional evening hours
  • Occasional weekend hours
  • Emergency coverage as needed
Travel Requirements

This is a highly mobile position.

Approximately 90% of the workday may involve travel between residential homes, day programs, administrative offices, and community locations throughout the agency service area.

Woodbridge, NJ (Primary Starting Location) & New Providence, NJ (Primary Starting Location)

Please Note: These are starting locations only. Due to the nature of this role, employees may be required to work at various locations throughout the agency based on operational and participant needs. A permanent or guaranteed work location cannot be provided for this position.

Compensation

Salary: $60,000 annually (Exempt)

Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Special Education, Human Services, Social Work, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related field preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus five years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
  • Must complete Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Training within three months of employment
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
  • Ability to travel extensively between agency locations
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete required DDD, Medicaid, and agency trainings
  • Ability to maintain CPR, First Aid, Verbal De-escalation, and Handle With Care certifications
ResponsibilitiesBehavioral Programming & Support
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Support Plans
  • Create behavioral interventions and support strategies based on participant needs
  • Modify programming and behavioral materials to support individual growth and success
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop effective behavioral supports
  • Ensure all behavioral programming aligns with BACB ethical standards and DDD requirements
Behavioral Services & Documentation
  • Provide billable behavioral services in accordance with participant service plans
  • Deliver services in person and remotely as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within MyEvolv
  • Complete required reports, progress notes, and behavioral documentation
  • Upload and maintain participant behavioral information within electronic health records
Data Collection & Analysis
  • Collect, review, and analyze behavioral data
  • Develop and maintain data collection systems
  • Utilize data to evaluate intervention effectiveness and identify trends
  • Make recommendations for program modifications based on behavioral outcomes
Staff Training & Development
  • Train staff on Behavior Support Plans and intervention strategies
  • Provide education regarding Applied Behavior Analysis principles
  • Model appropriate behavioral interventions and support techniques
  • Monitor implementation fidelity and provide coaching as needed
  • Support training initiatives related to behavioral health and specialized participant needs
Collaboration & Team Participation
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, behavior plan meetings, intake reviews, and agency meetings
  • Collaborate with Day Services, Residential Services, Nursing, and Behavioral Services teams
  • Support admissions, transitions, and participant service planning
  • Work collaboratively with external providers and stakeholders when needed
Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Maintain compliance with DDD regulations, Medicaid standards, and agency policies
  • Cooperate with licensing, inspection, and regulatory reviews
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant, employee, and agency information
  • Ensure all documentation meets Medicaid and regulatory requirements
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, and move throughout residential and day program settings
  • Ability to assist participants during emergency situations and drills
  • Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and other health-related risks
  • Ability to utilize computers, electronic health records, spreadsheets, and data tracking systems
