Your decisions directly impact loan quality, salability, and overall portfolio performance.

Accountabilities:
  • Perform full-cycle underwriting of mortgage loans across multiple product types, including retail, wholesale, jumbo, HELOC, correspondent, and construction lending, under delegated and non-delegated authority.
  • Review and analyze loan files to ensure compliance with agency, investor, and internal credit policies.
  • Evaluate credit risk, borrower eligibility, and collateral quality, including detailed appraisal review.
  • Identify documentation gaps, underwriting conditions, and risk factors, communicating findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure loans meet secondary market salability standards while balancing production timelines and quality expectations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and investor lending regulations and underwriting guidelines.
  • Collaborate with loan originators, client relationship managers, and internal teams to resolve underwriting issues and support loan progression.
  • Provide clear, well-documented underwriting decisions aligned with compliance and credit standards.
Requirements:
  • Recent mortgage underwriting experience (within the past 6 months), ideally across retail, wholesale, or jumbo loan products.
  • Strong experience with HELOC and/or construction lending underwriting, including guideline interpretation and collateral risk assessment.
  • Deep knowledge of AUS systems such as DU, LP, FHA Connection, and Total Scorecard.
  • Proven ability to underwrite in a high-volume origination or fulfillment environment while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of agency, investor, and secondary market underwriting requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain credit decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a disciplined, compliance-first mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple loan files and priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly compensation ($36.50/hour, based on experience and qualifications)
  • 100% remote work environment (U.S.-based candidates only)
  • Comprehensive medical coverage
  • Life insurance and personal accident protection
  • Paid company holidays, including additional time off such as the day after Thanksgiving
  • Opportunity to work in a high-volume, technology-enabled mortgage fulfillment environment
  • Inclusive workplace culture focused on innovation, diversity, and collaboration
  • Equal opportunity employer committed to fair and merit-based advancement.
